Thunderscrash 10 Report post Posted August 26, 2012 As some of you know, I just got my dream car, a 1969 Mustang fastback on friday. I have the vin number for it but unfortunatly, the door tag is gone so I have no other info. I am hoping I can get some basic info on the car without having to buy a marti report at this time. I tried the Ford 999 report route but it seems like they started charging for that. I will update my other post with pictures here soon. Thanks
69RavenConv 307 Report post Posted August 26, 2012 The Marti Report is the only definitive way and will be one of the cheaper parts of a restoration but having said that the best way would be to post up your vin (leave off the last 6 digits if you don't want it public) and a bunch of pictures. There are lots of folks here who can readily spot tell-tale signs of what was once on the car.
Thunderscrash 10 Report post Posted August 27, 2012 Well the first 5 digits of the vin are easy: 9 - 1969 T - New Jersey 02- fastback F - 302 I don't have the door tag and I am just trying to get a feel of the trans, original color, interior options, etc. is there anywhere else on the car that might have those numbers? I also have pictures posted in my "new guy here" thread.
1969 Mach1 14 Report post Posted August 27, 2012 You can get a new door tag made by the same place that provides the Mart Report. I believe it's Marti Auto Works. Just provide them with the vin number. The new door tag should have the information you are seeking.
