EastYorkStang 63 Report post Posted August 7, 2012 Thinking about installing a '89 5.0L engine out of a H.O. Mustang and need to know whatfuel pump to use? What amount of the harness I need to pull as well off the car. I have a complete car to take whatever I need to make this swap work. Just don't know what I need? Thanks! ForceFed70 14 Report post Posted August 7, 2012 Are you planning to keep the stock fuel tank? If so, what do you plan to do for a return fuel line? The easiest way to do this is to use a Warlbro In-line fuel pump. But without a baffled tank, you may run into problems when below 1/4 tank.
Rip Rock 13 Report post Posted August 8, 2012 I recently just did the efi conversion. I used an Areomotive A1000. Just in case I upgrade the engine :).
R4K 10 Report post Posted August 8, 2012 Check out this in-tank pump for classics, plumbed for return line, which includes a small sump to avoid the low-tank sloshing. It uses a Walbro pump. http://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=84/category_id=61/home_id=61/mode=prod/prd84.htm
jaday123 10 Report post Posted August 8, 2012 I used the Tanks Inc one for my conversion as well. I plumbed all new lines since I had the car apart at that point. Mustang monthly or one of those mags did a write up on it.
ForceFed70 14 Report post Posted August 9, 2012 I've just got the unbaffled tank with a bung added to the OEM fuel sender unit to allow for a return fuel line. I've noticed no problems from being unbaffled, but I don't drag race (no hard launches) and I don't let the tank get below 1/4. One of the baffled tanks sure would be nice. They wen't available when I did my EFI conversion.
