gnatsum 12 Report post Posted July 29, 2012 Hey guys, I am working on a 69 mach originally S code 390 long gone now am trying to install a 351w from an 84 Bronco. I have 3 sets of SBF mounts but each set turns out to be about half an inch off. Any ideas of what I am doing wrong?

gnatsum 12 Report post Posted July 29, 2012 It is missing where the drivers side motor mount aligns with the frame mount. I was able to get the passenger side bolt to go in. I'll try to get photos.
miketyler 15 Report post Posted July 29, 2012 I had same issues with my 351C and new motor mounts. Not off by half a bolt hole, closer to 3/4" or more. After confirming part numbers turns out others were reporting similar experience. Ultimately, had to get a prybar and stretch the lower half of the motor mount to bring it into place. I blame it on cheap motor mounts.
jmlay 80 Report post Posted July 29, 2012 There were different frame brackets used depending on body style & engine combination, some were dual function. Here is a page from the CJ site that may be useful.: http://www.428cobrajet.org/id-motor-mount-support-bracket
LindenBruce 27 Report post Posted July 29, 2012 Jimlay is correct. The lower mounts were different from small block to big block. You will need the big block lower portion if you are going back to a big block. That's prolly what the issue is. Bruce
gnatsum 12 Report post Posted July 30, 2012 Thanks everyone. I'll keep trying. I'm wondering if my shock towers are spread out a little or something .
