LiLMike 42 Report post Posted July 6, 2012 Just bought the windshield washer reservoir and had to buy the pump seperate. I received the pump with a star type ring but can't figure out how it stays in. The pump slides into the chamber in the bottom but where does the star ring go and how does the pump stay in the chamber? Hate to force something and break it. Thanks for the help. LindenBruce 27 Report post Posted July 6, 2012 The pump goes in first followed by the retaining ring. Make sure you have a new grommet on the pump before you seat her home. Bruce
Big Secz 26 Report post Posted July 6, 2012 You press the "star" ring in place once you put the pump in. The teeth on the ring dig into the plastic and hold it in place.
LiLMike 42 Report post Posted July 6, 2012 Thanks Guys! Worked like a champ. You really have to press that pump in there to get it to seat. No wonder I love this site...LOL
FloridaDave 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2019 It seems simple enough to insert the new pump and retainer....... But my issue is understanding the best way to get the old non functional pump out of the reservoir first???
Mike65 475 Report post Posted May 5, 2019 The way I have done them is to use a needle nose pliers to pull the star retainer ring out first then you can use a regular pair of pliers & grab the pump on the raised part where the wiring plugs in & pull the old pump out. 1 JayEstes reacted to this
