Blue exterior

hey guys,

 

lookin for info on exterior paint. according to my vin, my car was medium metallic blue (6) according to the shop manual i have. i have found several different sites that say my color ranges from acapulco blue, med metallic blue, and med bright blue. even found one that says hulla blue.

 

what are the differences? i'm thinking the acapulco was just a name to appeal to the consumers and not really a shade difference. anything to help narrow it down would help me relay it to my paint guy.

Many colors had a marketing name as you see on the 69 chart below. Med blue metallic poly is a 70 color, as i own one... It also has a marketing name.

Medium Blue Metallic (70) kinda looks like Winter Blue (69).

Mine is a 6 as well -- Acapulco Blue. When it gets repainted that will be the color that goes right back on it.

Yep, same chart I saw. As I said, my 1969 Ford shop manual said med metallic blue followed by (bright). This is what threw me off.

Another thing was the color code, 3077-A in my book. I've seen 3077-M(?), and both 13357 and 13557.

Think ill go acapulco, but like to keep original. Found the blue in some areas while removing the black paint that covered it.

Acapulco Blue is my favorite 69-70 color.

 

I have a T- Candy Apple Red which isn't candyapple at all. When I repaint I'll spend a lot of time thinking about switching to the modern Mustang's Dark Candy Apple Red Metallic.

In that link it does but on some survivor areas of my car its much darker and quite nice... I like winter blue also.

My 70 is Medium Blue Metallic. I love the Acapulco Blue if I could have found a '69 that's what I wanted.
