1969vert 55 Report post Posted July 15, 2013 Flange weld is so much easier....
69SlowResto 19 Report post Posted July 15, 2013 Awesome Mike. I appreciate the info...I'm going to have to look into the process of doing this a little more. Definently sounds easier. What do you use to flange the metal? I assume there is a tool for doing this. Cheers Lee
Mike65 475 Report post Posted July 16, 2013 Panel flanger at CJ'S $43.00, or $41.99 at Eastwood. To get an acceptable flange I did it once then went back over it a second time. If you want any pics from inside the trunk to see how high the new quarter skin goes let me know & I will shoot a few. I also did some more welding at the seam from the old quarter panel to the new skin.
69SlowResto 19 Report post Posted July 16, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the help and pics, I appreciate it. I would love a couple pics from the inside if possible? I just ordered the panel flangers...not sure if I'm going to go that route yet but I like to collect tools and I know I'll have multiple uses for those. shaun071 62 Report post Posted August 6, 2013 Great work Mike! I always check on your build. You're build is a lot like mine- doing most of it yourself at home with basic tools, patience and heaps of enthusiasm.
