Throw out bearing question

My Toploader has been rebuilt and this will be a first for me installing it. The entire transmission was repainted. I will be installing a new clutch kit. Do I need to sand down the Bearing Retainer and put some greese on it so that the Throwout bearing will slide back and forth easy OR is putting greese on it a NO NO.

I always grease mine.

i believe the instructions with the Centerforce throw out bearing i had recommended using a dry graphite lube or lithium grease.

Should I steelwool the Bearing Retainer, greese it then install the Throwout bearing.

consider putting some thinner on a rag and try wiping the paint off. maybe it was some rattle can lacquer.
