BuckeyeDemon 211 Report post Posted September 4, 2011 If IRCC the rate is 800Lbs for the BB Ford. seems a bit high. the standard front coil spring for a 69 351w car was around 282 lbs/in. the HD front coil spring for my 69 351w is around 428 lbs/in. Max Power 74 Report post Posted September 5, 2011 It's IIRC, by the way.... The highest aftermarkets I believe are 620lbs. I think the factory BB springs are in the 400s. 800+ is off the charts.
LoneWolf2U 136 Report post Posted September 5, 2011 This Mach1 has the 800# performance springs from MustangDepot with the Arning drop to the upper A arms. They list the spring rates form 700-1000# with a 1 in drop from stock for BB Fords. I try a pair of those 620's and the front spoiler was 3/4 in off the ground. And the engine is a 351C, So a BB would have the nose dragging the pavement. Max Power 74 Report post Posted September 6, 2011 Big blocks only weigh about 100lbs more than a cleveland. The nose wouldn't be on the ground. The factory BB springs had a lower rating than the 620s you see commonly sold. http://www.fordmuscleforums.com/all-ford-techboard/429688-stock-spring-rates-mustang.html http://forums.vintage-mustang.com/vintage-mustang-forum/610491-69-big-block-front-spring-rate.html
