1969 Mach 1 Clock Green Dial Pointer

I've always wondered about the green dial pointer in the passenger side clock.

 

Does anyone know what it is/was intented to do?

Good question, I know they call them rally clocks. I'll investigate further, because it's got me wondering now.

Yes, it's intended for running rallies. The passenger could use it to check elapsed time. Someone at Ford had too many martinis for lunch one day....

Here’s one for you, the Mach 1 on the dash and the side of the car are different. One of them has a roman numeral and the other does not for the number one. I guess the interior engineers and the body engineers didn’t talk to each other.
