painted bumpers?

I dont really know of another forum to post this is in soo sorry.

 

anyone have any pics of a 69 fastback where they de-chromed and painted the bumpers body color? I love this look on newer vehicles but cant find any pics of it on a 69. my bumpers are in need of serious TLC (read:replacement), but I may try and fix the dings in them and possibly paint them if it looks decent..typical hot rodder, gotta have something different!

The painted bumper/monochromatic look was very popular in the '80s and early '90s pro-street scene, and it seems to be having a bit of a resurgence currently. IMHO, if you just paint the bumpers body color, it will look a bit retro (circa 1987). But it can look very current if the bumpers are narrowed and tucked, bringing them much closer to the body and thus making them look more integrated into the body (like much cars with molded bumpers).

 

Here's that retro pro-street look I mentioned:
