69StangRestomod 11 Report post Posted March 13, 2011 I dont really know of another forum to post this is in soo sorry. anyone have any pics of a 69 fastback where they de-chromed and painted the bumpers body color? I love this look on newer vehicles but cant find any pics of it on a 69. my bumpers are in need of serious TLC (read:replacement), but I may try and fix the dings in them and possibly paint them if it looks decent..typical hot rodder, gotta have something different! Thanks!

DarkBuddha 107 Report post Posted March 13, 2011 The painted bumper/monochromatic look was very popular in the '80s and early '90s pro-street scene, and it seems to be having a bit of a resurgence currently. IMHO, if you just paint the bumpers body color, it will look a bit retro (circa 1987). But it can look very current if the bumpers are narrowed and tucked, bringing them much closer to the body and thus making them look more integrated into the body (like much cars with molded bumpers). Here's that retro pro-street look I mentioned: More current look:

69StangRestomod 11 Report post Posted March 14, 2011 perfect, thank you, that is exactly what I was looking for! I think I may tinker with mine, I definitely cant hurt them. try to massage them into the body lines and paint them, I think it gives a more smooth look
