What's your other ride(s)?

i feel the pain.... 99 F150 -5.4L 15-16mpg 292k miles. picked up a 87 325i to get 30mpg to commute. im looking into selling a 90 mustang lx 4cyl that needs a motor and the 325i to put the money in a 89GT convertible. a simple motor rebuild and replace the T5 with a T56, new top and new leather, carpet... drive it for a while and save some money for a paint job....

which takes money away from the 69 build.. but... 100's a week on gas just doesn't cut it....

what sucks.. ford dealer has a kona blue 6cyl mustang 2012 for 24k.. with big vinyl sticker on the side... 37mpg.... seems some people are getting good gas mileage with them..

sorry for the long rant...

I would love to get a new or slightly used V6 Mustang but as a DD including the New England winters the RWD just isn't going to cut it for me, especially on such a long commute.

My other toy is the 1970 Bronco. I bought it as a daily driver in 1997 so I could spend the time and money on the Mustang, that went well... It's got a Sequential Fuel Injected 5.8 roller motor with a Trick Flow top end, a ZF 5 speed out of a late model F250, stacked NP-203 and NP-205 transfer cases for added gear reduction, and Dana 60's at both ends with all 35 spline shafts and detroit lockers. The body is stretched 9" on a 15" stretched wheelbase, and the body is narrowed 6" with the grill narrowed an additional 7" and the front clip tapered in.

My daily driver is a 97 Escort Wagon 5 speed (cheap to drive with current fuel prices).

My Wifes Driver, and our family hauler is her 2002 Excursion Limited 4x4 with the 7.3 Diesel.

Finally, my former daily driver, and still hauler is the 2003 F350 Lariat dually 4x4 with the 6.0 Diesel.

Death to the infidel!!!:death:

I know! I'm hoping that it'll mate with my '69 in the garage and produce Camerostangs... Or maybe Mustero's....:turned:

It's heavier and slower than a new 5.0, but I love it.

Thanks man! I'm a fan of all muscle cars, even though Mustangs are my favorite "Classic" Muscle car. I had a 65 and now I have this 69, so they come first.

You're preaching to the choir... we've had plenty of musclecars in my family, including a '65 Buick GS 'vert, a '67 GTO, a '69 442, and a '72 GS 'vert, not to mention the Fiats/Lancias/Alfas, '53 F100, a '67 Ranchero, '74 F100, and a few others. It's all good. :)

Nice collection of fun cars! If I could, I suspect I'd have a collection like that too. Very nice.

And I'm glad to see a fellow 2.3T guy here. Their such under rated motors by most, and they can make very good power, reliably, and on a budget. I debated getting an SVO because of the higher potential for collector status, but instead went with my heart and got the XR4TI since it's the one that really captured me. I'd love to hear more on the '84 GT "dirt cheap" setup.

Finally picked out my new DD, not something I would have necessarily bought if I didn't have to but I went thru another $800 in gas last month and have had enough of pissing the money away. This was pretty much the best car in it's class and by far the most car for the money out of all the ones I test drove over the last week. I should actually save a couple hundred a month now even with payments.

Hyundai has my vote, they seem to be in tune with new car buyers, they have nice lines and style. The Sante Fe is very popular in Canada, the Gensis Coupe is slick and the Sonata and Elantra are nice rides...I have two Toyotas and one Honda, but thinking of changing to Hyundai when the time comes. I have one ford as well of course, and one riding craftsman riding mower...

My Uncle just traded is 05 Z06 in for two Hyundai's! bahhaaahaahhaa... I love to tell that story to the bowtie crowd. No really... he's a self employed engineer and wanted a Vette his entire life. He drove it up from NC (to NY) the summer he got it. He was just up again and I asked where the Vette was? He said it became a money pit and he got sick of it being in the shop, he got sick of the dealer, he got sick of GM, he got himself a little Hyundia something or other and his wife an Hyundai SUV... no clue what models, dont care. Too bad really...

The funny thing is they weren't even on my radar at first, I had no idea they did a redesign in 2011 (this is actually one of the first 12's) and had the look of the previous model stuck in my head when I read all the good reviews. Style counts for something no doubt but it was low on my list of needs. The Mini Cooper was by far the most fun to drive and the only one that felt like a sports car but I couldn't see myself stairing at that interior for 5 hours a day in traffic. This Hyundai just looks and feels like a way more expensive car than it is and the fit and finish was just amazing, no hard cheap plastics with flashing on the edges and style without loosing function, DarkBuddha summed it up perfetcly. The warranty can't be beat either, especially considering I'll probably hit 100k within 2.5-3 years, if I have good luck with it I will likely by another down the road. I just hope the FWD is good enough in the snow, I don't expect it to match any of my 4WD cars but hopefully good enough, certainly has to be better than a new Mustang 6cyl which I would have probably bought otherwise.

Too bad you don't care or too bad he decided on a Hyundai over a Vette?
