What are these holes???

Found about 4 small 1/8in or so holes along the rear of the trunk in my 70 coupe. Looking from outside they are behind the bumper. Inside they are along where the tail lights wireing runs. My first thought was clips for the wireing, but all are empty. I would have thought one clip might have survived.

 

So what are they for????

Do you have the rear valance on or are all the bolts in? Because I believe that's what those holes are for.

The rear valance is there. The screws mount lower then this and do not screw into the trunk. Had to go look to make sure :whistling:

There's a rubber flap about 18" long that goes behind the bumper. I thought it was attached with 3 screws but I might be wrong. I tried to find the piece on NPD but I could not find it. I did buy 1 from them a few months ago though.

Could those holes be for those plastic wire harness "clips" (for lack of a better term) to hold your trunk wiring harness in place? I can imagine they've broken off many years ago.
