dbennett 10 Report post Posted August 21, 2012 You have done some wonderful progress on the car from beginning to where you are now. I really like the stand you built for the car to sit on, but as you were doing all the underside work surely you didn't lay on floor and do it but I didn't ever see any pics of a rotisserie. DId you use one or really lay on the ground?
Junior2561 10 Report post Posted August 21, 2012 no rotisserie, i laid on my back to do it all. For painting, Devilbliss makes a product called D-Kups. I used those to paint upside down with and it came out great. It would have been VERY NICE to have on a rotisserie, but i just did not have the garage space. dbennett 10 Report post Posted August 21, 2012 well huh you did great of course the forklift is useful as well. I'm making a rotisserie fairly cheaply I might add, but the car is outside under a cover so I must epoxy it as I do it.
Junior2561 10 Report post Posted September 4, 2012 Well the car is in storage now - It wont be out until the end of October.... in the mean time, I'll source some parts. A little retail therapy. haha
Junior2561 10 Report post Posted September 27, 2012 update: I have owned the car for two years now...and it is currently in storage during the house construction, which started today: i have been collecting parts and trying to scrounge up a 4 spd though
Klutch 17 Report post Posted September 28, 2012 i have been collecting parts and trying to scrounge up a 4 spd though Why not go with an overdrive trans? It will make the car much more driveable. And it's only a little more involved that installing a 4-speed.
Junior2561 10 Report post Posted September 28, 2012 great question - given my budget, a TKO is not in the budget, and a t5 will break even behind a stock 351w when i abuse it. The 4spds are cheap, plentiful, and strong. The car already has 3.00 grears. I also would like to see/feel that old school feel. Eventually when the funds are in line i could upgrade though. 70mstang 11 Report post Posted October 26, 2012 Nice .. no rusty floorboards there! HEHEHEHEHE I'm still in the I WISH mode for a bigger garage. But as house values go down, the cost to build more goes UP!!! Craziness
Junior2561 10 Report post Posted October 26, 2012 What is crazy is, in the area where we live, to PURCHASE a pre-exsisting home for what we are building for - we would have gotten a 1970s two story house, out dated, needing work, and not where we wanted to be. They are thinking the end of november we will be in the house....we'll see!
Junior2561 10 Report post Posted January 9, 2013 Finally in our house, and I brought the Mach home last night....Let the sickness resume.
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted January 9, 2013 Nice. A 3 car garage makes a nice sized shop. Where do you plan on parking the family cars :) Bob

Ash 145 Report post Posted January 9, 2013 Nice! Let's see how long it takes for the garage's fresh paint to be covered in grease and over-spray!
Junior2561 10 Report post Posted January 9, 2013 i plan to keep it as clean as possible. No painting, blasting, etc etc....we'll see how long that lasts lol The Mrs still has enough room to park. I am out in the cold though. Which i am fine with.
Junior2561 10 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 After months of no work on the car, I was able to get some time in last night. It was a cold one though. I'm at the point where I can start bolting on my suspension and running the new fuel and brake lines i bought from CJs Upper control arms and spring perches Lowers that need painted still Spindles getting cleaned up for paint I also got the 9" apart, which i honestly do not think the carrier has ever been out of the housing. All the nuts and washers were originals, the ID tag was in the proper place and the inside was 100% mud and sludge. Might not have helped it was cold though. turboclevor 10 Report post Posted January 23, 2013 yep, thats a cold one, it was -17 outside my house today with windchill
Junior2561 10 Report post Posted January 23, 2013 yeah it was a tid bit nipply....I need to get my heaters cleaned up and running. That way i can get some painting done in the next few weeks. People aren't always aware that you need the air temp AND the part temp to but warm, or the paint wont adhere like it should.
Ash 145 Report post Posted January 23, 2013 People aren't always aware that you need the air temp AND the part temp to but warm, or the paint wont adhere like it should. Not long ago I read a good trick to help this, lay electric blankets over the panels to bring up their temp. Same sort of concept as tyre warmers. Junior2561 10 Report post Posted January 23, 2013 never thought of that, thats a great idea. I just question how i can swipe the Mrs. electric blanket.
Ash 145 Report post Posted January 23, 2013 Just think of yourself as lucky that you get to have an electric blanket. My wife wont have them on the bed. I end up with a dozen blankets, and 2-3 layers of clothing :crying: :001_smile:
Junior2561 10 Report post Posted January 29, 2013 I got some time in on the car lastnight. I cleaned, primed and painted the spindles, Rotors and lower control arms. Satin Black Busted off the strut rod bushings and got the new ones out for install I need to run a die over the thread on my strut bars before they can be installed. Seam sealed up the trunk. Its hard to see but there is texture to it. I'm going to go over it lightly with a spray style coating for a more original look. And I installed the upper control arms and started to route the pre-bent fuel lines. Not pictured, but I am still cleaning up the rear end and carrier for paint. Then i can put it all back together and roll it under the backend.
