Junior2561 10 Report post Posted February 27, 2012 thanks. I plan to paint the roof, and skeleton of the car with a brush and some POR-15 or some other heavy duty paint. I'll do it with a brush so i can slop it into cracks and crevices. The finished interior will be the factory white deluxe, the exterior is Acapulca Blue
miketyler 15 Report post Posted February 27, 2012 What was your opinion of the repo hood? Is that Ford tooling hood? I am considering repop shaker hood for my 70 rather than cutting up my turn signal hood.

Junior2561 10 Report post Posted February 27, 2012 I just went with the hood CJ pony offers. I got it on one of their sale weekends, and it will need little to no work.

TexasEd 188 Report post Posted February 27, 2012 It's amazing what having it all one color can do for how it looks. Keep it up.
Junior2561 10 Report post Posted March 1, 2012 I brought the car back home on sunday. Lastnight and this morning I started the filler work... Just doing one panel complete at a time.
Junior2561 10 Report post Posted March 5, 2012 I made some Boss Shock tower reinforcement templates today and traced the out. I also traced out the final pieces for my subframe connectors. They will be cut straighter then what i traced. The Dotted lines are where the pieces will need bent. I'll have more pictures once they are cut and after they are installed. Grabber70Mach 107 Report post Posted March 6, 2012 Picture 3 I think the reinforcement should sit in there at an angle to triangulate it.

Junior2561 10 Report post Posted March 6, 2012 (edited) Started on the roof lastnight - its some what hard to see since the filler is the same color as the shell. I did a full skim coat on the roof and a final coat on the quarter panel tops and wheel openings. Edited March 6, 2012 by Junior2561
TexasEd 188 Report post Posted March 6, 2012 Wow. Could you make me a new valance bracket? The one that connects to the bottom of the radiator support bracket and has the hood latch connected on the top?
Fordrevhead 29 Report post Posted March 7, 2012 Picture 3 I think the reinforcement should sit in there at an angle to triangulate it. Yes the Boss 302s were at 45 degrees and IIRC were .105" thick. I used .098 myself. The outer wing you show was not part of the Boss 302 Trans am mods but are somewhat like the Boss 429 wings. Looking good keep the pics coming. Junior2561 10 Report post Posted March 7, 2012 Well boys and girls...I'm changing the direction of this build a little...instead of EFI, i have decided to go carb. 1. I do not want to hack up my hood for the intake 2. I HATE the way OE EFI setups look. I just can't do that to my car. Due to funding though, I won't be adding any aftermarket heads any time soon, so it will be some what of a pig with just the E7 heads and an HO cam.... Junior2561 10 Report post Posted March 23, 2012 I've been doing about 30 minutes of body work in the mornings before work the last two weeks or so. To roof needed a lot of attention due to a number of small dings, gouges etc. I've just been sanding away, turning 40 grit paper to 120 lol.... We are also in the process of looking at purchasing another house, something with more space and a bigger garage :) Anyways, nothing exciting to see but, people always love body work pics lol

Mike65 475 Report post Posted March 24, 2012 Junior, My 69 Coupe has alot of small dings all along the front of the roof over the top of the windsheld & the usual ones where the sail panel meets the roof which I have had on every Coupe I have owned. My car came with a vinyl top & I am debating whether I should try to repair all those dings or just put the vinyl top back on it.
Junior2561 10 Report post Posted March 24, 2012 Its a lot of work to get it straight, but i keep telling myself that once its done, its done. So that helps give me paitence. I'm hoping this weekend to do a skim coat of icing on the shell and be done with the shell. That way i can start on the doors more, and the hood/fenders. Junior2561 10 Report post Posted April 17, 2012 Its hard to see all the progress but i have been working on the car for about 40 minutes every morning before work. The roof, quarters, deck lid, jams and quarter panel extensions are all ready for primer after hitting them with a pass of 180 on the board file. The doors, drivers fender and hood ecoat are all blocked out and fit up. my wife is not a huge fan of the dusty mess either...can't blame her.
