Wade 10 Report post Posted July 28, 2010 Anyone know which plastic models have the best detail and are most accurate? I haven't put a model together since I was in high school. I used to really enjoy building models and now I've decided to try to build one to look like my 'stang. So far in my search I see mostly shaker hoods, mine has the regular non-functional scoop. I found this model which has the regular scoop: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=180440623574&Category=2581 It does not have the front and rear spoilers, so if I found another model with those I wonder how interchangeable the parts are? 70mstang 11 Report post Posted July 28, 2010 I use Revell, it's a great way to get a 3d look at your paint scheme. if you get a combination one they will have different hoods, interiors, wheel & tire sizes. Wade 10 Report post Posted July 29, 2010 Nicely done model! I can't locate a Revell model that has the standard hood scoop. I did find the AMT that I linked to previously.
relic1864 10 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 Does any model makers put out a 1969 coupe? I cant find any.
70mstang 11 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 I've never seen a coupe kit. Correct rwcstang =) I grabbed my dremmel and chopped it! Since I am going with the Shelby trunk & extensions the car is pretty close to what it will end up looking like.

Pakrat 1,043 Report post Posted July 30, 2010 Try running a search on this site, I know we have talked about models before and I seem to recall that there was a guy that made a mold for custom coupe bodys that fit the exisiting models on the market. 69RavenConv 286 Report post Posted July 31, 2010 Looks like they're out of business
Trinitys 134 Report post Posted August 2, 2010 I bought 2 of the resin kits a couple years ago. Pretty nice stuff, expensive though. There is a older kit out there where you can make a vert of a coupe. You'll run across it on eBay occasionally and you'll have to kick down a bill for it on the low end. Trinitys 134 Report post Posted August 2, 2010 I was planning on making a copy or two of the kit back in the day. This is how I was planning on doing it. I even bought some of the stuff to make a "squish" mold to do it too but never did. rwcstang 201 Report post Posted August 3, 2010 Is that company still around for the resin grande model? I tried emailing them and my email was returned. yeah the company went out of business i believe. I bought the resin 69 grande resin model its was really good but it had a lot of things that needed to be corrected; the front fenders weren't centered over the wheel and the quarter panels contours weren't exactly perfect it has a slight drop on them. Also i had to do some major shaving on the inside of the model resin and the interior to make the model fit together correctly also i felt like the front end piece to the revell model could have been corrected as well. but hey we can't have it all so to say! lol but overall I am happy with it. i wish i could have bought more. right now i have two 1/18 scale mach 1's that i want to modify into a coupe/grande but Im looking at other diecast ford vehicles that have the same rear coutours like our coupes. i was looking at the 69 cougar diecast and it almost matches to the rear look of our cars. Trinitys 134 Report post Posted August 3, 2010 Where did you get the wheels for the little car....?? Off topic... Do you have pictures of your big car somewhere? I love the stance! Edit....found your Myspace page. So what size wheels/tires and how did you lower it?
rwcstang 201 Report post Posted August 3, 2010 Where did you get the wheels for the little car....?? Off topic... Do you have pictures of your big car somewhere? I love the stance! Edit....found your Myspace page. So what size wheels/tires and how did you lower it? trinity, i got the wheels off a revell 1969 mustang shelby gt500 2n1 model kit. sorry to go off topic here everyone; I hardly use my myspace page except unless when im promoting my mixes ( i DJ). if you want you can listen and download my mixes on mixcrate.com/djash now to answer your question the wheels are 17x8 all around 245/45 (rear) 235/45 in the front. the springs are 620 but i need to do a shelby/boss drop to correct the a-arm angle. the rear leaf is stock (its old, really old) and Im going to replace them with maier racing leafs or grab-a-track leafs probably 4 1/2 mid eye to keep the stance and it has air shocks in the rear (I know bad idea...) but im going to change those out to Kyb adjustables soon. right now the car is in the body shop, once the car is done im going to install my frpp boss 302 crate in. I cant wait! lol. also i will be selling the wheels soon since everyone has them in my area. I am going with Fr500 anthracites i just have to get 2 wheels narrowed to fit in the front. pm me if you have any questions. :) okay back on to topic! lol
Pakrat 1,043 Report post Posted August 4, 2010 I decided to do a little digging into available models just for the heck of it and came across this unusual one, never heard of it or the brand before but it seems to have some restomod parts to it and has the standard hood scoop too. http://www.amazon.com/25-Resto-Rod-69-Mustang-Fastback/dp/B000BL8RN0/ref=sr_1_32?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1280941415&sr=1-32 Here's the first 69' one I came across that has front and rear spoilers. http://www.amazon.com/1969-Mustang-Mach-Cobra-Revell/dp/B003OXHG1G/ref=sr_1_130?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1280942238&sr=1-130 This is a 70' kit but has the right spoilers and hood scoop all in one. http://www.amazon.com/Revell-24-Ford-Mustang-Mach/dp/B0015NX6P2/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1280942568&sr=1-

Not exactly the same type, but at least close to the right size.
