Car damaged at show

Recommended Posts

Good point, that just doesn't seem right at all.

I can't help but wonder if you should just deal directly with the MCA insurance instead and leave them out of it, couldn't do much worse I would think.

I am going to see what Heacock (MCA's insurance) is going to do. Only problem is I haven't heard from them either. I think the regional club (Vintage Mustang Owners Association) dragged their feet in reporting the claim. I called the MCA today and they have notified the agent but are waiting for a call back so they can give me a claim number.

I heard from Heacock (American Specialties) this morning and I am getting a bad vibe already. I asked him for reimbursement for the entry fee for the Palo Alto Concours that I could not attend last Sunday because of the damages. He said he wasn't sure if the policy covered that. I can understand my insurance not covering it but as a claimant I am entitled to be reimbursed for that entry fee due to the negligence of their insured.modify_inline.gif

Grundy Insurance / Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance is now asking to have another independent appraiser look at the vehicle. One that they are hiring. I've told him that I don't have much of an issue with the initial estimate except that there are no prices for the parts, clearcoat labor was left off and some other R&I times. I don't think a second appraisal will matter since the first appraiser agrees on the damage but won't verify the prices or come up with his own.

As mentioned above they have purposely underwritten the estimate and are hoping that I will go away.

Wow, this totally sucks! I feel for you bud and hope it all works out, just don't let them frustrate you into giving up.

I would even consider writing a letter to Dennis Gauge who promotes Grundy all the time, tell him you went with them all on his recommendation and now you are getting shafted, it certainly couldn't hurt.

I'd like to know where your at on this situation when you get a chance to update. I was just catching up on some episodes of my classic car this weekend and saw an episode with Jim Grundy talking to Dennis about the yearly cost to insure a variety of different level cars and he specifically says that he reviews each and every claim personally to ensure full and total customer satisfaction?!?!?!?!?

After dealing with a supervisor I was paid a fair settlement and then I let my Grundy insurance lapse when it came up for renewal in late August. I have since signed up with Hagerty and I'm saving approximately $300 a year to boot.

Well I'm glad it worked out OK in the end for you. You will not regret saving that money with Hagerty either, I am living proof they stand by you 100%. I really like their quartely news letter too, it always has some interesting content.
