Doesn't look too bad on the surface, however, the listing itself says "body needs major renovation" Make sure you really check out the panels, floor pan, frame rails, etc. for rust or filler. What state is the car located in? The 305 cubic inch means it has been bored over already. Nice to know when it was rebuilt. More pics would also help.

Look (or ask about) the underside to gauge the bodywork needed. The floors and inner rockers are prone to rust. Really check out the sheet metal all over for rust and/or damage.

One thing I really like is that it's been one-owner since 1970 and looks like it's unmolested. (The original hubcaps are a dead giveaway). That means you shouldn't see butchered wiring harnesses, aftermarket gauges, k-mart stereos, mystery holes cut all over the place, sloppy carburetor and distributor mods, etc, etc. It's a great candidate for a factory stock restoration.

I'm thinking this is the same coupe I saw on Craigslist yesterday.

He has it listed for $5K which is a bit high, but if you have him down to $3500 then good on you!

I was put off by the "rust out" as that can be a nightmare and tons of dough. Like somebody said, a two-owner car is a good thing and the original build sheet will definitely help for resale down the line if you restore it.

Pictures on craig's generally look 3x better than the actual car, so I'd lay eyeballs on this thing before getting too serious.

Best of luck!

Tom
