Max Power 74 Report post Posted May 17, 2010 351w application. Will it clear the hood on a standard 69 mustang hood? Anyone try it? I did a search and a lot of guys with cut out hood scoops were running it, but couldn't find a clear answer.
pjsmustang 10 Report post Posted May 17, 2010 I have an R.P.M air gap on my 302, fits no problem. Also have an Edelbrock carb. and a 4in tall air cleaner. I think I have about an inch hood clearance. PJ

70stangcoupe 10 Report post Posted May 17, 2010 I have a 70 with a 351w with edelbrock rpm air gap intake. stock motor mounts, no spacer, Holley 650, and k&n x-stream 11'' air cleaner with about a 2" filter height. and it is just too tall for the stock hood. Didn't fit with with an edelbrock carb either. I cut a hole under my hood scoop.
Cruzzar 22 Report post Posted May 18, 2010 Here's a link with discussion regarding this set up. The 302 is physcially about 1" shorter in overall height than a 351W. http://www.1969stang.com/mustang/forum/showthread.php?t=7361&highlight=airgap

EastYorkStang 63 Report post Posted May 18, 2010 I had a Performer RPM on my 351 and it made the shaker push the hood up. Changed to a Torker and it fits with better clearance.
