maxum96 32 Report post Posted March 30, 2010 I didn't do it, but my buddy put a 460 in his 70 Mach 1 (428 SCJ 4 speed car!) years ago. What do you want to know?
yamahasrx700 14 Report post Posted March 30, 2010 What the hood clearance, in inches, from the distributor mount to the hood. What brand motor mounts and headers he used.
maxum96 32 Report post Posted March 30, 2010 He used Hooker headers. Hood clearance on the distributor is going to depend on what distributor and what motor mounts you use. The company that made his mounts is no longer around. But there are other companies making the mounts to put a 429-460 in a 1967-70 Mustang.
Fordrevhead 29 Report post Posted March 30, 2010 (edited) I havent done it either, but I have seen it... and have run across info here and there. here's a thread from a few months back with some info and a link to Crites motormounts... there are probably more threads as well. http://www.1969stang.com/mustang/forum/showthread.php?t=2457 and here's a video of one on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbvPvCCJYto ...and also check out http://www.mpgheads.com/Header/MotorMt.htm for headers and/or mounts. I would also suggest a hydraulic clutch setup or even easier... a C6. Edited March 30, 2010 by Fordrevhead
yamahasrx700 14 Report post Posted March 31, 2010 I need the measurement from the distributor mounting on top of the block, not the top of the distibutor. I want to use Crites but I want to hear some customer feed back before I let them have my money.
Fordrevhead 29 Report post Posted April 1, 2010 I think some guys on stangfix and VMF have done this and used Crites, check there as well.
72Pstroke 10 Report post Posted April 1, 2010 I did this swap to my 69 when I bought it, (in 1982) and I used factory motor mounts. I have the engine out now, and the part number on the rubber mount is D1ZZ 6038 A for the left mount. If someone wants to figure out what car these mounts are off of, it makes it a bolt in swap. Maybe a '71 Mustang with a 429??? Let me know if you have any questions. Tim
