460 in a 69 coupe

Recommended Posts

He used Hooker headers. Hood clearance on the distributor is going to depend on what distributor and what motor mounts you use. The company that made his mounts is no longer around. But there are other companies making the mounts to put a 429-460 in a 1967-70 Mustang.

I havent done it either, but I have seen it... and have run across info here and there.

here's a thread from a few months back with some info and a link to Crites motormounts... there are probably more threads as well.

and here's a video of one on youtube:

...and also check out http://www.mpgheads.com/Header/MotorMt.htm for headers and/or mounts.

I would also suggest a hydraulic clutch setup or even easier... a C6.

I did this swap to my 69 when I bought it, (in 1982) and I used factory motor mounts. I have the engine out now, and the part number on the rubber mount is D1ZZ 6038 A for the left mount. If someone wants to figure out what car these mounts are off of, it makes it a bolt in swap.

Maybe a '71 Mustang with a 429???

Let me know if you have any questions.

Tim
