Peppo 10 Report post Posted March 9, 2010 Have a 9" Versailles rear axle. recently bought new Coys C67 wheels. The rear wheels hit the inside of the wheelarch, so I put 11mm spacers on. This resulted in the wheelbolts ending up too short. Now I´ve removed the caliper and discovered that it is impossible to get the wheelbolt out because of the "shield" that is on the inside. Can anyone shed light on this ? I want to fit longer bolts.

d.reese 13 Report post Posted March 9, 2010 Remove the 4 bolts that hold the brake backing plate / axel. This will allow for the axel to be pulled out to remove and replace the wheel studs. I wish I had that rear end!!

MikeStang 247 Report post Posted March 10, 2010 Correct same as above, remove axle retainer bolts, slide axle out and replace studs, before you replace axles, replace seals in the tubes if it has them, now is also the time to go ahead and replace those axle bearings and rear end fluid as well, do it while your in there so you dont have to come back and make a mess again later on LOL Mike

MikeStang 247 Report post Posted March 10, 2010 If you replace axle bearings look towards spending almost 100 bucks for bearings and seals, I just did it and spent 93.00 on 2 axles and the seals, then I was going to have to have them pressed on by a shop, so I bought a small 12 ton press for 125.00, it was gona cost me 20 per side for them to press them on and off so I spent a few bucks more to get a press but I used it the same night to press my pinion bearings on and off LOL. MikeStang 247 Report post Posted March 10, 2010 Thats and expensive option if he just needs new studs and isnt worried about his axles LOL. But your right if he is making some power and such new axles would be a nice upgarde, but look at spending upwards of 500 bucks for new axes if you buy the mid priced ones Mike
