Adjustable vents in the dash pad

Recommended Posts

Gentlemen, would you please fill me in on the two adjustable vents above the radio in the dash pad of a 69 fastback. This is the first car I bought with that option.See atached pic. Dont see any AC controls anywhere. Is it just an extra ventilation? This car also has tinted windows thru out, but the passenger side got broken and I need one to repalce it. Thanks

That dash is fron an A/C car.If you dont have vents on the far left and right of the lower steel dash like next to your glovebox someone just put that pad into your car.The dash pads are being reproduced for ac and non ac cars

actualy that's not correct. some non-ac cars were equipped with the power ventilation feature which basically used the same dashpad as the ac cars and provided cooler outside air to be circulated through the car with the fanon and the temp slider set on cool/cold. it works pretty well on cars in cooler climates where ac is not needed or when you like to go out cruising in the cool of the evening on friday and sturday night and didn't want to be caught with the ac on if someone called you out at the traffic light....LOL

Here's a quick little blurb about it in this MM article from a few years back. If you look close in your picture you can just make out the words Power Vent all the way to the right of your heater controls.
