bnickel 10,004 Report post Posted June 12, 2008 my wife has one in her car and it has to play through the radio, either with a direct connection of some sort (hard wired into the system, headphone plug, or cassette adapter) or it works through an fm convertor signal, any way you do it it has to have a radio to play through since it has no speaker outputs or line outs or an amplifer of any sort. i doubt that it would even work with headphones hooked directly to it somehow. stangme 105 Report post Posted June 14, 2008 same here, has to play through the radio, funny thing is that it came preinstalled in my truck, and when I added the unit to the wifes van, I got better reception with it then the factory installed unit, I think the factory antenna is junk.
