1970 Grabber Green M-code Mach I in Oregon

Recommended Posts

In western Oregon: 1970 Mustang Mach I 351 Cleveland-4V (M-code)

No Marti report, but I do have a copy of the original build sheet in good condition. Power steering and power front disc brakes (new master cylinder). Originally Grabber Green with white interior--repainted once 17+ years ago. Bought new, and lived in sunny southern Oregon all its life, moved north to the Willamette Valley 6 months ago. Factory 14'x8' steel wheels with stock covers in good condition; tires are good as well. Spare, original jack, and lug wrench in the trunk.

Engine: The original 351 Cleveland 4V was pulled and freshened in the mid 1990s (20K miles since that time). 750cfm Holley carburetor with an electric choke. Freshly rebuilt harmonic balancer. The Cleveland has been upgraded with a Crower Cam, Crane valve springs, a true roller timing chain, and Pertronix points, but the engine compartment still retains the original appearance, with vintage style hose clamps and the original air cleaner. Fan shroud present and in good condition. There is a little wear on the engine compartment as all of this work was done 13-15 years ago, but it still shows quite well.

Transmission: Originally an FMX auto, now a small block C-6 with a shift kit. Transmission was pulled last month, the outer case was replaced, the correct C-6 transmission cross-member was purchased, and a new flexplate and torque converter were installed.

Rear-end: Originally a 3:25 limited slip 9", the rear end now is a Nodular case with 3.89 Traction Lok gears and 31-spline Dutchmen axles. Newer rear leaf springs. The driveline was machine balanced when the transmission work was done in December.

Body: Nice, original style (but not originally optioned) front and rear spoilers, and rear window louvers. The Grabber Green paint looks good and still has a nice shine, but has chips and scratches and touch-ups, and there are a few dings here and there. A very small amount of bubbling on the driver's quarter, very low behind the wheel, and under the driver's side taillight. The bubbling on the fender is very minor and difficult for me to photograph as the bubbles are so small. Also a small, very focal area of rust around trunk floor drainplug on driver's side only. The floors still have green overspray visible on them and are solid as a rock (the underside has not been detailed, so it's filthy). Torqueboxes, frame rails, tops of inner fenders, etc, all are excellent. All chrome is nice and Mach hood locks work as they should.

Interior: Originally white, changed over to black in the 1990s. Door panels were replaced and are in excellent shape as is the headliner (replaced). The dash pad is NOS and was installed in the 1990s. Original rim blow wheel in nice shape with the exception of a crack at 12 o'clock. The console is in good condition. Seats were recovered over new foam and are in very nice shape. There is an aftermarket stereo (dash not cut) that is not hooked up. Windshield wipers work well with new blades. The heater core is new and the heater works great--the ducts are hooked up correctly and the defrost works well, as do the floor vents.

In the past 6 months:

Rear wheels cylinders replaced

Strut rod bushings installed

Front end alignment

New exhaust hangers

Harmonic balancer rebuilt

Driveline balanced

Transmission completely rebuilt.

Headlights are currently not working--may be a fuse or the headlight switch as they worked when last driven a couple of months ago. Haven't found the time to get out in the (cold!) garage to look into this yet.

$27,500/OBO (Contact me at DeadStang at 69Stang dot com.)
