69 headlight buckets on a 70 stang

Recommended Posts

hi all!

this is my first posting, i'm a long time mustang lover and the 69

sportsroof is my favourite. i'm based in new zealand and work for

weta workshop. i'm currently in the market for a clean 69 to

modify into (eventually) a road/race beast.

i have a quick question:

can you easily mount 69 headlight buckets and front clip to a 70?

i want a 69, as i love the nose, so aggressive! but to expand my

buying options i was wondering if it's possible to change the front

of a 70 to a 69 without a huge amount of work.

and here's a pic of what i hope one day to own.

feel free to check out my website for some car art, i've done a bit

in the past.

cheers!

The issue you are going to have is the fender. Since a 69 has 2 headlights per side the dish at the front of the 69 fender is wider to accommodate this. If are comfortable with that modification then no problem. Or you could get 69 fenders to replace the 70's. Note the 70's have a marker light vertical behind the front fender edge.

I've seen several 70's with the 69' nose. Some have even left the marker light on the fender and kept the 70' valance instead of the one from 69' with the marker lights included. There was recently one like that on ebay. You will need everything pretty much everything from the front clip though, that's alot of stuff to buy if your car doesn't need a new nose already. I would keep your search to a 69' if that's what you really want.
