Space Saver Inflator Bottle P/N Question

The reproduction inflator bottle labels have p/n's C8WA, C9WA, D0ZA, or D1ZA. I have seen a C9ZA Inflator, what is this for - Mustang?

they indicate the model year of production.

 

C=60's era

D=70's era

 

the numbers following the first letter are the last digit of the year for that decade, in this case.

 

C8=68

C9=69

D0=70

D1=71

OK, that means that D1ZA is for a 71 Mustang, D0ZA for a 70 Mustang, and C9ZA for a 69 Mustang. Why then are all the reproduction space saver stickers for 69 Mustangs marked C9WA?

the 3rd digit is supposed to be for the car line in ford that got the bill for the design of any particular part so that number may not necessarily match whatever vehicle that parts ended up being used in. i don't remember which line the W would be, but IIRC it's torino/fairlane (though i could be wrong), so that division paid for the design of the part but mustang engineers decided they could use it as well but they didn't need to redesign it for any reason and were able to use it as is therefore it still has the engineering number from the other car line.
