Progress on my mod.....

Recommended Posts

After 2 long, long, long years of waiting we FINALLY got the motor running in my '69 Fastback. It's a 500hp crate motor from D&D Motorsports in California. Everything under the hood is new on this car, there is nothing original. It's a hot-rod now. There's a trans leak so I didn't have the headers connected to the exhaust, and let me tell you, I haven't been to a rock concert that was any louder than this beast. It ran a little rough at idle, but was very sweet over 2,000 rpms. The fuel injectors were the last remaining part to get on, and then I found out we didn't have the chip from Edelbrock! Now it's all good though.

Now there's still a bit to do before the car will move on its own, I'm guessing it will go to the paint shop by the end of the month, then perhaps 6 weeks there, and then a month of putting back the interior (and hopefully the gauge cluster will arrive from JME) and this pony will be runnin' with the devil. Ahhhhhhhhhh, I'm getting excited again!

Wow, that's gonna be fun!!!!

Please keep us informed on your progress. My 69 build plan is almost the same as yours: 500HP, performance brakes and susp., Recaro seats, etc. I'm going with iridescent blue paint and Fiske Mach V rims, though.

I'd be very curious to hear how well the rear tires grip when you get it on the road.

If you could, please post your build specs: engine, trans, susp., brakes, etc.

Thanks, and BTW, those rims rock!!

Thats good news robbiedog! Keep us updated, helps keep the rest of us motivated to get our projects done or at least make some progress.

my only motivations right now are miniature mustangs. i have my 69 coupe resin body kit about done, probably only lack another 40 hours on it ( ) and i got the 69 boss 302 RC car from radio shack. my best friend is the manager so i got a smoking deal on the demo car. free!!!!! but it's beat all to shit already and had both mirrors broken off, the rims have serious curb rash, the rear bumper/valance is cracked to shit but that's ok, since i'll probably just add to the carnage. it is now solid black, except the flames on the hood i decided to leave those on, so it doesn't look like the same car even anymore. should be fun tearing it up some myself and adding my own scuffs and scratches to my new paint job

Good deal! Did you even get the battery and charger with it?? That was the part that hurt. I've got to get my crap straight and get back on the car. School and work eating up my "car time"

nope, my buddy gave me his boy's old charger and they are looking for a good battery for it, worst case i'll pick one up at walmart for about 20-25 bucks. i didn't realize it didn't come with a battery or charger i figured it was just because this one was a demo that it didn't have them.
