Adjusting 1969 glue in door glass

Recommended Posts

My Passenger side door and window are about as good as you can get.  I thought I had my driver side glass in good shape but now it has a gap at the top front where the curve goes horizontal and the metal gasket holder on the back now hits the rear vent window metal to metal when fully up..

I've reglued the glass a while ago.  It seem like if I could shift it forward in the tracks it would work better. I don't think there is a way to adjust the glass forward and if it is glued in too far back I need to remove it and reglue it in a quarter inch further forward.

Any experience on this?  One of my least favorite things and no, not interested in swapping to bolt in.

I unfortunately have the same issue. I haven't looked into it but I'm thinking it's the quarter glass that needs to be moved rearward to provide the correct fit. Someone's got to know for sure.

Before taking anything apart check the bracket locations.  Measuring from the leading vertical window edge to the first bracket 3/4". Measuring from the same place the center bracket is 19" back and repeating the process last bracket is 27 1/2".  Easier to demonstrate with a picture. Brian

very clear description.  I think I did this when I glued it but I also had the marks from the original glue spots.

I tried loosening the quarter glass at the top but did not do the bottom..  You know I did remove the quarter glass and reinstall it between when it fit and did not fit.  You might be right

On coupe and vert, you can slide the door glass back and forward by loosening the nut on the regulator forward arm end, it should be the same on fastback as the regulators are the same.

ok, I'll take the door card off and see if I can figure that out, but I tried to do it in general before I put it together and could not figure it out.  Thanks

I installed all the glass on a 70 coupe a few weeks ago after paint; spent a lot of time adjusting to get them right so my memory is fresh. Let me know if you can't figure it out.
