Storing car for the winter

Recommended Posts

I’m having to store the 69 at a friend’s house in his barn this winter. I’m looking to find something that will deter the mice & rats. I saw this on Amazon. It’s Jahy2Tech electronic Mouse Repellent. I can’t get the pic to download. It said it will hook up to 12volt. They sale it in a 2 or 4 pack. Would 1 work for a car or should I use both one in the engine bay & one in the trunk ? Is there something better out there.

Old thread, I know but I just dispatched my first mouse of the season and it reminded me of it. I use the old fashioned mouse traps baited with peanut butter. I have a vert and over the years the buggers have been a problem in the trunk, under the rear window and in the rear window well. I've tried the peppermint, dryer sheets, steel wool and other stuff but concluded that mining the shop with traps, especially around the doors where they come in is the best defense. Never tried the high tech electronic stuff but the reviews aren't great.

Sure, it's dirty and requires checking the traps every day or every other day and reloading as needed but they haven't done any damage since I got diligent about it.

I do the same.  I set traps throughout the garage.  Also inside the cars on the floor on a pad so I can see it as I walk by.    The mice are kind of seasonal.  They usually appear in the spring or fall.  They usually seem to arrive in groups of two or three.  If I see I have caught a mouse in one trap, I go and check all the others and usually I will find another.

I had a wooden double garage door that sagged in the middle and was high enough at the ends to let the little buggers to get in. I replaced it with a steel door 3-5 years ago and haven't had a problem since. I used glue traps when I had the problem.
