rwcstang 207 Report post Posted June 3 Im between adjustable motor mounts and reverting back to the stock mounts. if I go back to stock mounts, I wanted to modify them with countersunk bolts so I don't tear rubber insulation. Im leaning towards adjustable mounts, but Im not sure if that will interfere with anything, say maybe a 1/2 drop? I'm running long tubes, power steering w/drop ram bracket. Does anyone run them? any issues?
RogerC 146 Report post Posted June 3 In the process of making my own copies of the RM style. Had the pieces laser cut at work. I can't recall where I got the cad files from. I overlooked that the bolt holes were line on line and had to open them slightly with the drill press.
RPM 1,232 Report post Posted June 3 You can't drop the motor much before the pan hits the engine cross member. Measure the clearance on yours before making it buying lowered mounts. 1 rwcstang reacted to this
buening 66 Report post Posted June 17 I created CAD and PDFs of the drop mounts that mimic the Ron Morris ones (posted on VMF). Send me a message if you're interested in them. I'm running 1" drop and slid the motor back 1.25". Stock oil pan, hooker long tubes and steering clears OK, but had to fabricate an engine crossmember (or buy ZRAY's). I have a post on VMF for my crossmember as well as CAD/PDF, if you are into fabricating your own stuff. My engine mounts use the rear leaf spring shackle bushings, so you have the option of using rubber or poly 3 RogerC, SWPruett and RPM reacted to this
kblagron 28 Report post Posted June 18 I slid the RM motor mounts back about an inch or so, and my power steering pump was very close to the shock tower, and interfered with belt tension adjustment (351C). I ran a tight belt, but probably only have about a 1/2 inch of leeway to take tension out now.
rwcstang 207 Report post Posted June 18 thanks, since Im running an aftermarket 4 bolt main block (man-o-war block), the oil pan is a t-sump so I will need to check dimensions if its a low profile or stock locaiton.
