renewgeorgia 0 Report post Posted January 17 A guy on facebook is selling a low miles coyote engine, trans, wiring etc for a decent price. He showed a video of it running where it looked like the car was in decent shape. I asked about if he would sell the whole car, he said he could not since it is not paid off. So... he is parting out a car and I am pretty sure he will not pay off his loan. Not exactly a stolen engine, but.. the lender I would guess would not be happy about it. What trouble the guy selling or the guy who buys would get in. I am not going to buy it, but curious if anyone heard of anyone doing this? If someone buys an engine not knowing this is what happened and places it in a car, can it be traced to the car that was repo'ed?
jmlay 84 Report post Posted January 17 The person whom signed the loan papers is financially responsible to the lender. If the car is repoed the lender would determine the value of the car as it sets, sell the car & expect to recoup the difference between the loan value and the value it was sold for. IF I were a buyer I would insure I had a signed bill of sale and a copy of the sellers drivers license. I'm not affiliated with law enforcement or an insurance company, etc… so what do I really know…
Vicfreg 780 Report post Posted January 17 If it sounds like a shady deal, probably is. Also you will probably need the ECU and other computers and wiring harnesses out of the car to make it all work. Last comment is that a Coyote swap is a major undertaking, and requires significant structural and other modifications. There are members here that have done that, so search the forum and contact them for their experience.
Rsanter 155 Report post Posted February 4 Just a guess but I’m thinking that the car seller is behind on payments and that the car will “disappear “ or get recovered in its incomplete state 1 RPM reacted to this
