kblagron 28 Report post Posted January 11 I am installing a fold down seat into a 1970 Mach 1 that had fixed seats before. I shamelessly stole a photo I found on here that shows bracket locations for the fold down seats. I have already learned I need both #1 brackets, and one of the #2 brackets. Then I noticed that I don't have either of the #3 brackets. I guess the previous owner took them out when replacing the floor pan and never re-installed. Are the #3 brackets needed for a fold down seat car? I can't see where they would be as I assume they are for the rear seat back, but maybe I am wrong. kblagron 28 Report post Posted January 11 Well I think I figured out my own question. I went and dug out the rear seat that was in the back of a closet (waiting to be installed for a long time), and I saw where those brackets are at the very top of the seat bottom, so guess I have two more brackets to weld on. Ridge Runner 1,153 Report post Posted January 11 Yes ,you need all three brackets ,#1 is the seat back hinge bracket, # 2 is the floor behind the fold down and # three is what the seat botton hooks on .
RetroStang 14 Report post Posted November 19 I need bracket #1, as the PO did not do a good job welding it in and I can't make it work. Any idea where I could purchase one? I found it part of bracket kit from Dynacorn, but not just standalone.
kblagron 28 Report post Posted November 20 I never could find just the brackets I needed, and ended up buying the whole kit, quite expensive for what I needed. The problem with that bracket is it has a threaded hole in it, so possibly could be made, but you would have to weld in a threaded nut to make it work. If I had the old one, I would attempt to remove, and weld on pieces that would make it work.
RetroStang 14 Report post Posted November 20 Thanks for the response. The whole kit is over $200 and I really don't want to spend that for one small bracket. I'm not very skilled with a welder so I was hoping to start with a new bracket. I may need to try utilize the damaged one, if I can't find a replacement bracket. 1 kblagron reacted to this
