Vicfreg 717 Report post Posted June 7 I am getting to the point where I am going to be driving the car soon, and need to revisit my initial "garage" alignment... My setup: 1" Shelby Drop Global West +3 Upper Control Arms Borgeson Power Steering Open Tracker Lower Control Arms Open Tracker Roller Idler Arm Camber Plates (no eccentric washers) My notes from a few years ago show the following alignment specs: Caster: Right: (+) 3.5 Left (+3) Camber: Zero both sides Toe In: 1/32" both sides Any suggestions/lessons learned would be appreciated!! shelbyshelby 52 Report post Posted June 7 I like your settings, especially the zero camber. I’ve had up to 1.5 degrees camber and it just don’t feel good to me. I do like total toe at 1/8” better than 1/16” tire wear may suffer a tad though but they drive better imo at 1/8”. I’d like to see what others are running and satisfied with. Mach1 Driver 538 Report post Posted June 7 Alignment Specs from Open Tracker Racing for power steering: Caster: +2.5 to +4.5° for power steering Camber: 0.0 to -0.5 Street, Street Performance -0.5 to -1.5° Toe: 1/8” Camber distributes load across tire face Caster causes wheel to align with direction of travel. More makes it harder to turn, but OK for power steering. You would want less for manual steering. Use same numbers on both sides of car for camber and caster
aslanefe 324 Report post Posted June 7 I would put more caster if you can, not limit it to 3°-3.5°; I have about 7° caster on 2 of my cars that have modified UCAs. 1 RPM reacted to this
RPM 1,173 Report post Posted June 7 Ya, run more caster if you can, and with those parts you should be able to. I run 7° caster with manual steering without issue. "They" say return to center is lacking with Borgeson PS, and more caster helps its return.
Vicfreg 717 Report post Posted June 7 Thanks, everyone for the feedback. I should be able to run plenty of caster as my UCA already as a (+) 3 due to geometry. I will let you know what others say and document what I do. 1 kblagron reacted to this
