dmdsprite 1 Report post Posted March 30, 2023 Since a lot of the various gas caps say they are for 65-73 mustangs, does that mean that this one will work on a 70 convertible, even though it specifically says it's for 71-73 mach1? https://www.kentuckymustang.com/gas-cap-pop-open-1971-1973-acp.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjww4-hBhCtARIsAC9gR3au-2AADqUEM4hRygpqT-K7GZPRh7HQyYavkQA6O_7jVxCIh4aPStAaAqhUEALw_wcB
TexasEd 211 Report post Posted March 31, 2023 I think you can probably make anything fit. It looks like that one will need a lot of extra holes drilled.
dmdsprite 1 Report post Posted March 31, 2023 Looks like 5 holes. Not sure if this is the same brand, but definitely same style... 71-73 mach1
RPM 1,271 Report post Posted March 31, 2023 Ya, the 5 mounting holes look the same. In thinking those outer holes are for looks.
kblagron 30 Report post Posted March 31, 2023 This is the one I got for my 1970 Mach 1. This one is just for a Mach 1, but would bet it would fit if you liked the style. https://www.npdlink.com/product/fuel-cap-pop-open/210564 1 lalojamesliz reacted to this

dmdsprite 1 Report post Posted April 10, 2023 Got an answer from Kentucky mustang... Screw on caps work for all years. Pop open caps are year specific, due to the different curvature of the rear of the car, where they mount.

maxum96 32 Report post Posted April 14, 2023 I had a buddy years ago use a 71-73 flip open gas cap on his 1970 Mach 1. It was a bolt on.

If 71-73 is flat, and 70 is flat, I'd think it should work on a 70. I just like the clean look, not introducing other colors that might not look great with the paint color.
