rittenrotton 4 Report post Posted August 4, 2022 I need some help, I'm having an issue with my coil wire boot melting. This is the second wire this has happened to. I have an msd ignition coil and hei spark plug wires. Any suggestions as to what is causing this? Could it be a bad ground on the coil?
Mach1 Driver 597 Report post Posted August 4, 2022 I would guess that either the wire connector isn't engaging with the coil, causing a spark gap and the resulting heat, or a crack in the coil tower insulation. Could you strip back the boot and run it in the dark to see what happens?

Ridge Runner 1,153 Report post Posted August 4, 2022 Are you sure the wire end is seated all the way in the socket ? I have seen wires burn because of arcing when not pushed in all the way
