Ya, those clocks are pretty sensitive. Mine wasn't working, so I watched a rebuild vid on you tube and refurbished it. It worked great until I installed it, and watched the minute hand move faster than a second hand, until it didn't. I've thought of getting a quartz unit,  as many are happy with them, but mine sits with non moving hands.

Sometimes a cleaning, lubrication, and/or filing the points can bring them back for a while. There's always the quartz conversion route, too, like RPM mentioned. Otherwise, at least it's right twice a day.

I've found the majority of the clock harnesses, as installed in the factory harness, have bad continuity due to the tight turns in the wiring under stress.  That could be your problem.

All 69 and 70 underdash harnesses, regardless of tach or not, have provisions for clocks. The wiring for 69's are slightly different than the 70 version.

Mine too, just for not very long :)

I even filed the points. Guess I suck.

Thanks for the info.  I recently found out I have a deluxe clock dash complete with clock in my stash of parts.  I think I'm going to do a deluxe interior when I get to that point with my car.

update,   took clock apart,   after playing with it for a hour or so,  I found one broken wire,  which I resoldered on,  and found that the ground connection has a 2 point connection,  1 for a wirre the other touches the clock  housing which acts as a ground for the whole car,  whch might not be making a connection so I soldered a wire from that to the housing,  and now the clock works fine
