jjstang 49 Report post Posted April 16 Is using stainless steel fastener for the motor, such as timing cover, intake and other accessories a bad or good idea. jf
Mach1 Driver 419 Report post Posted April 16 I believe only 410 stainless can be hardened, so most alloys aren't good for locations where bolts get higher torque specs.
RPM 1,002 Report post Posted April 16 Not a bad idea. If you do, make sure you use antisieze on the threads of dissimilar metal. I use it on threads of similar metal also. 1 Kilizyrag reacted to this

Vicfreg 581 Report post Posted May 8 RPM has good advice, imperative you use anti-seize on the stainless threads on the bolts if they are going into aluminum. (timing cover, aluminum heads, intake manifold, etc) Just a little. Wear gloves, it gets everywhere. I use either a QTip or a solder flux brush to apply.
