jjstang 55 Report post Posted October 5, 2021 Y'all have been a great help, now another question. Rewiring with the AAW harness. I want to eliminate the printed circuit board behind the dash, too many people complaining about the repos. So how did you make the connections to lights. Since I plan to use the stock gauges (converting the alt gauge) I'll need to make a connection to the resistor/regulator doodad (forget what is called) too. Thanks john
Midlife 838 Report post Posted October 6, 2021 You need to find two wire lamp sockets for either 194 or 1895 bulbs. I use the 194 version, and I get them from http://www.HiPoParts.com The CVR uses battery snap terminals. Good luck finding them with crimp connectors. I found mine from NewarkOne, but they came from Europe. 1 Mach1 Driver reacted to this
RogerC 147 Report post Posted October 6, 2021 If the CVR uses the same connector as a 9V battery, maybe try https://www.parts-express.com/. I have some 9V battery connectors that have about 3 inches of wire attached. I think I got them at Parts Express some time ago. Just need butt connectors to attach. danno 128 Report post Posted October 7, 2021 Or you could just buy a complete harness, just like you want, from Midlife. It has real wires and not the flexible circuit card. http://midlifeharness.com/products.html 1 Midlife reacted to this

jjstang 55 Report post Posted October 9, 2021 I figured someone must make those. I just enjoy fabricating solutions, it's a hobby, right. Finding the parts has been problematic, the actual size specs are elusive. Like, I see those T10 sockets but will they fit the hole correctly? The CVR does have 9v battery connects, and those are plentiful, but I haven't checked if the wires need to be resized to match the needed current. It would be simpler just to buy it...... Well then, since you enjoy fabricating solutions, go for it! When you get frustrated enough, let me know and I can help you out.

jjstang 55 Report post Posted October 10, 2021 I did go to that site at first, but I didn't know what I was looking for. Now that I have put some effort into this.... I see that theirs is a T10. Thanks I do have some of the replacement 9v battery connections in the drawer. The wires appear very thin. How much current do these need to handle? Will they handle it as is? I know that's probably a trade secret...... Thanks

There are only two gauges on a tach car, and three on a non-tach car. A 30ga wire would handle 0.8a
jjstang 55 Report post Posted October 10, 2021 30g that's small. The smallest wire I have isn't labeled, dam. What do you think the wires on a 9v battery connector are. Kinda irks me to buy a whole spool that I will never use again. I already have a bunch of those...... Thanks for the info. john
Mach1 Driver 597 Report post Posted October 10, 2021 Anything 30ga or larger is good.
Midlife 838 Report post Posted October 11, 2021 I use 18 gauge wire. The trick then, is to find a battery snap that will accept an 18 gauge crimp. $1 each plus shipping if you want them.
