Parking Break Release Handle Question

Hello Everybody.  I'm brand new to the FoMoCo world...and to this site. Thnaks for having me. 

 I recently purchased a 1969 Shelby GT350.  

This may be an easy one...does the parking break release handle have any kind of a mounting bracket under the dash?  It seems like the release handle just hangs pretty much untethered under the dash.  Is this how it's designed or am I missing a part?

My 1970 Chevelle SS has a bracket that supports the release handle to keep it straight and secure.

Hello Paul;  The only handle support is the connection to the rest of the assembly. Nothing additional under the dash  Brian
