timevans1977 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2021 Hi All, I've just begun restoring my '69 fastback and have stripped it down (mostly) to the shell. I am now looking at all the gunk left behind in the interior from the adhesives used on the headliner and carpet. What methods have others used that make short work of cleaning out the interior? Here are some shots of the shell and what I'm looking to clean up.
aslanefe 333 Report post Posted June 8, 2021 Did you try scraping the padding and insulation with putty knife or wire brush? Then you can use a solvent to remove the glue residue.
timevans1977 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2021 Thanks, I'll give that a try this weekend. I thought I remember reading sometime back a few years ago, that someone had used a mild grinder and then needed to spray some primer or sealer on it so it wouldn't rust or corrode? Any idea's on how to clean up the entire interior surface once the adhesives are off and protect it for the time being until I'm ready to rebuild it?
