How to remove headliner and carpet glues?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I've just begun restoring my '69 fastback and have stripped it down (mostly) to the shell. I am now looking at all the gunk left behind in the interior from the adhesives used on the headliner and carpet. What methods have others used that make short work of cleaning out the interior? Here are some shots of the shell and what I'm looking to clean up.

Thanks, I'll give that a try this weekend.

I thought I remember reading sometime back a few years ago, that someone had used a mild grinder and then needed to spray some primer or sealer on it so it wouldn't rust or corrode? Any idea's on how to clean up the entire interior surface once the adhesives are off and protect it for the time being until I'm ready to rebuild it?
