  1. I would build the 302 just to learn how to do it. I sure didn't get my first engine rebuild right. Also, if it turns out good, you could sell it to finance your 351. On the other hand, expences that you have going over budget now (for a 351), will be money saved down the road.
  2. I agree with what you're saying. I might have been a bit vague in my statement. A HB system does not dictate the size of the induvidual pistons, nor the amount. But with a HB system putting out around 1300-1400 psi, it requires both a large bore MC and total piston volume in order to distribute all that pressure. Or else you'd end up with brakes that lock up in an instant, wouldn't you? And like you say, balance. All I know is, the StopTech brakes feels alot better than my Wilwoods. But my front and rear calipers aren't balanced (Have the prop valve installed). Wilwood sells a 6 piston caliper that is balanced the the ones I have in the rear. I'm looking forward to some updates on you project. Sounds like a fun build.

  4. My brother just installed StopTech brakes on his '70 'Barracuda. I'm really impressed with them. They have much greater pedal feel to them than my Wilwoods, but I got 4 pistons, he got 6, so I guess piston volume has something to do with it. We are both running Hydraboost. Are you planning to do that? (it dictates piston size) I'm so impressed with the StopTech's that I might want to upgrade.

  6. Wow! Beutiful! What paint is the matte black?

  8. Yeah, I do, it's a very good system, the car is very stable and the wheels feels planted on the ground. Never had any wheeelhop or anythink like that. The car handles very good, and changes direction very fast. I've found the stock seats to be no good. I need seats with lateral support. I have 275 and 240 lb springs, but the problem is the short shocktravel. It is not as confortable as leaf springs. I hope to get the suspension tuned on cornerweights for best performance. It was, I had a certificated welder do the frame bracket welds. The rest was bolt on. Had to file down the powdercoating in some of the bolt holes, other than that, no problems. I found a few, but no pictures under the car with the exhaust installed. No, you can see it on this picture, there are no parts lower than the subframe you already got installed.

  10. I have the TCP RPSS. I'm happy with it, but the quality of the VariShocks is questionable. I've on my 2nd set on all 4 corners. Thy don't have any protection from dust and gravel that builds atop of them, at least here in Norway. So the top seals gets ruined. The rear dampers got ruined when I drove over a drainpipe at speed. Ripped the driver side rear shock in two. The suspension works very well on the race track (I run a truetrac diff), but is a bit stiff downtown (speedbumps and such) due to the short suspension travel. I have softer springs to it also, but it's a hassle to change back and forth. I did manage to route an 2 1/2 in. exhaust system tru it with relative ease, using Flowmaster parts. The hard part was under the car, getting it to clear the subframe connector x-brace and the rear footwell on the driver side because the torque arm "dogbone" link is fastened there. Had to ding the footwell a bit in the corner to make room. The Subrame X-brace is a nice piece that does wonders for the chassis, and should be installed anyway, even if you don't buy this suspension. Just ask if you have any questions.

  12. I got the TCP Power rack, and I'm also happy with it. No problems whatsoever.
  13. Nice job on the safty wire. Mine did not look that good, but I got the hang of it eventually. :sweatdrop:
  14. I have a TrueTrac, (torsen diff) and I'm very happy with it's performance, both on the road, drags and road race. Just remember that in needs mineral fluid. There's a whole tread about that on corner-carvers.com.
  15. Here is Dodgestangs wheel and tire fitment guide. It's a list of known combos that work. http://www.dodgestang.com/emAlbum/albums/Tire%20and%20Wheel%20Charts%201965-1973/Tire%20and%20Wheel%20Chart/Tire%20Fitment%20Guide%2069-70.pdf
  16. I checked, I use the stock flow valve.

  18. I changed to the highest flowing one (3.17 GPM), but I can't remember if i'm still running it, or the original one (2.11 GPM iirc). I'll check for you.

  20. FYI, I don't think you can have a 35 spline TrueTrac, only 31 splines.

  22. I've got the Strange S/S 31 spline axles and a Strange S-Series TruTrac, 3.70 pumpkin. I got it complete from TCP when I ordered my rear suspension. Came complete, except the axle bearings had to be pressed on. No biggie. It's nice stuff, and works well on street and race track. Haven't tried any heavy dragracing yet, just on the street with street tires. Only thing is, the gears make a wee bit of noise, my rear 8" did not. My DD '89 Mercedes 300SE has more noise from its rear end. But that is a known problem among those cars.

  24. I had some "crosstalk" between brakes and steering at the beginning, but as the air (microbubbles) went out of the ps fluid it has been less of a problem. I'm not saying it's completly gone, but it's not anything that is bothering me. I've only experienced it on low rpm, as the load on the power steering is higher.
