  1. I will see if I can go back and dig up what we put in there.  I originally had a flat tappet cam and it flattened some lifters, the shop changed it up to roller lifters.  The Flat tappet was a 280H and used the stock no adjustable rockers.  When I moved to the roller set up is when I moved to the adj rockers.  I will try to dig up more specifics on each setup, but I have had no issues since changing over a few years ago.

  2. It is basically a stock FE adjustable rocker arm.  That was an option on the FE motors, but they had a known issue of non locking adjustment so, they would tend to back out.  Precision Oil, upgrades that to a fully locking adjustable nut set up, so it gets rid of the stock adjustment issue.  He also put in new bushings where the shafts go.  Again, this was a few years ago and I am not sure he still does this, but it was a good comprise on function and cost.

I'm making progress on the Mustang again. Probably gonna make a post on my buildthread again soon. My brother's 'cuda is doing great. Got some track time a month ago, first time with the Tremec T-56 and the Edelbrock Pro-Flo EFI, so that was fun. The car worked great all day, but had powerloss at the top end. So we're chasing that one. Think the fuel pump just ran out of juice (electrical that is), so we're trying another relay with much heavier gauge wires.

    That is an awesome picture!

  4. When I got mine, I called Precision Oil Pumps about some options.  He had stock style adjustable, not roller, that he refurbished and upgraded, with locking adj stoppers and new inserts where they install on the shaft.  Was trying to remember more details about them, but they were solid units.  I changed over to Roller Lifters and needed adjustable but was had similar concerns that you did about the aftermarket ones.

This was a few years ago, so not sure if he still has those available or not.

  5. Hey TexasEd,

I like your overall vision statement as mine is very similar with a bit of a lean towards the Pro-touring/Restomod vehicle.  I wanted more modern drive and conveniences of a modern car, but had to keep the original body with some slight changes that don't stand out drastically, but to make it slightly different.

A quick list of modern conveniences:

    Vintage Air AC

    Unisteer Power Steering

    Cobra Disc Brake upgrade

    FiTech FI

TKO600 Transmission with Hydraulic Clutch Setup

    Upgraded Radio with Kicker Components

    Street or Track Upgrades Suspension

TMI Covered Foxbodies in Mach 1 Upholstery

    3 Point Front Seat belts

LED tail lights and Halogen Headlights

    Body Changes:
    Removed 1/4 Panel Emblems

    Removed Trunk Letters

Removed Rear Wing/Still need to add Front Spoiler

Paint Whole Hood and Cowl Flat Black

    Paint Tail Panel Flat Black

Painted on Side Stripe with Body Color Showing through for striping and MACH 1 lettering

    17/18in Bullitt Wheel Combo

  6. I will be honest I am not sure on either of those.  I think you can do some more research on Vintage Mustang Forum as I think more people have used them over there.  I have a generic Radiator that has side tanks so it wouldn't fit on my radiator, but with the stock tanks for the radiator I think it could fit.

  7. I would recommend call all the different companies yourself.  I did that and ended up with Street or Track coil over set up.  Shaun was awesome to work with and is very knowledgeable about mustang suspension and can talk through many options that he can offer. I would also price the options yourself as I started looking at just upgraded stock parts and ended up going coil overs based on the pricing and what I wanted from my car.

I have no regrets and 100% completely happy with my set up.  Car rides awesome and have no issues.

Good luck, lots of options out there.

    Hey Everyone,

I'm looking for expert advice on logic of changing my 69's rear end gears.  I currently have a Ford 9" posi with 3:50 gears,  28 spline axles.  I'm looking at changing over to 31 spline axles with 3:70 or 3:89 gears.  Looking to increase horse power and torque.  Tranny is a WC T-5.  Thanks  Mark

Thanks for all the advance.  I have a professional built FE 390 with stroker to  445 ci.  It has 11:1 compression.  It has a Quickfuel 750 carb with mechanical secondaries.  It has custom 2" headers with 3" exhaust from the header to the mufflers and 2 1/2" from muffler to tips.  It has chassis dyno just over 400 hp and near 500 torque.  The car is a cruiser and show car.  I'm always looking to tweak more power out of it.

I thought the higher gear ratio would increase the horsepower.  Thanks Mark

This is the part that caught my attention.  Unless something is done to that WC T-5, I would be careful with that transmission.  They typically are not built to hand that kind of torque unless they are modified.

I too have a 445 FE, but opted for the TKO 600, just to be on the safe side.

  9. Never heard of them before this thread.  Looks like a decent website.

Before you buy any suspension parts I would  encourage you to call Shaun at Street or Track.  He is very helpful and no pressure to buy his stuff.  But he knows mustangs and that is what his business is based on.   I talked to him several times before buying anything.  He can provide some info on what you are trying to do with your car and offer some options for you.

    Good luck.

that's a bummer, I have been thinking of doing an EFI Conversion myself with Holley's Sniper and Distributor setup, I think this tank will do well! definitely knocks out my ext.pump from holley as its been frustrating with it overheating on hot days.

Totally agree.  That is why I went with their Phantom set up as well.  Pump kept overheating and vapor locking.  Drove it recently to the Hot Rod Power Tour Ssop here near me and had no issues, pump ran great and as quiet as can be.  I do like have the access under the car as I did have a couple of holes to drill for the lines. Not a bad deal, just have to put something over top of it so I don't have to worry about anything riding on top of the pump set up.

Took the car out for a drive on Sunday, it was really hot day which overheated my External Holley electric fuel pump. I had to pull to side the and wait for it to cool down. Really starting to get me thinking on going EFI and going with an intank fuel pump.

That was the same issues I was having with the NC summer heat.  Would eventually vapor lock on me.  Would have to wait for everything to cool down, then would run again.  I upgraded to an Aeromotive In-Tank set up over the winter and so far running good.  Haven't tested it it super hot weather yet, but so far done good in the 80's.
