  1. Oh no !!! Are you OK ??? What spring compressors were ya using ?
  2. Was a great Christmas. We don't buy presents for each other, We only buy for the little ones. For us its more for family.
  3. Hey I like the Craigslist add...She's cute.... And the car she's in looks like a GT. Not the one he's selling... Some people ...sheesh !!! I am curious as to what the extra badge is on the grill ???
  4. Or you could go the way I did, I used a Windsor block with Cleveland heads. Commonly known as a Clevor. You can get aluminum Clevor heads easily. Now ya have the best of both worlds and something a little different. Edelbrock makes an intake for the application and it makes some serious power. If you use the 2V heads ya get unreal torque.
  5. Well I finally have some progress on the console. I am still trying to find a way to re-coat the whole thing so I get the proper texture. I know SEM makes a plastic/vinyl spray. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them !! I have a new center piece and also a gauge pod to replace the ashtray. Hey Bill, I sent ya an email ....
  6. I have the same clock and have been looking for a quartz replacement as well. In the mean time I took mine out and gave it a really good cleaning and lubed up all the gears with WD-40, and bought a new clock harness. When I put it all back together it worked again !!!
  7. Im running the Edelbrock polished carb....The jury is still out for me. I may change it, it has a 'dead' spot or hesitation, especially when its cold....
  8. Looking good !!!:thumbup1: Gotta love a freshly painted car !! Can't wait to see it all put together !!
  9. Finally had a dry day on Sunday and took her out for a run. I finally feel comfortable pushing it, now that I have about 1200 miles on her and the front end feels safe....and WOW :w00t: what fun I had. She takes off like a bat outta hell. I'm definately gonna need rear disc's !! This thing is a real torque monster. Got the tire chip, on cold pavement, going into second gear !! I can't wait for the next dry day !!! Crappy thing is, we don't get many dry days out here on the wet (west) coast at this time of year....
  10. Welcome !!! The more the Merrier !! Post some pics, let's see the ride !!
  11. Hey All, Again I haven't posted in a while but I have been busy ! The car has been with the front end shop for about a month. I told him to use it a a filler job, and take his time and do it right. I gotta say he was very good. Anytime he had an issue he called me and I went down and we discussed what was best and what I wanted them to do. Great guy to deal with.. Now the bad stuff... If ya go back and look at all the pics you will see the one thing(s) I didn't replace were the shock towers....Here is where I phucked up. If I ever do this again, when I get to the point where I hung all the suspension on, I would take it to a good frame place to have it checked...As it turned out the towers were bent in and down. Making it almost impossible to get the right geometry for a wheel alignment. Needless to say, it cost me a fortune to get it right...sigh....gotta love this hobby !!!:surrender:... Anyway, now the car sits like it should...and doesn't bottom out on even the smallest bumps, and it handles great...Here's the list.... Welded in new shock towers and inserts Replaced the springs with BB springs Aligned the UCA and LCA's to proper placement (A little frame work) Replaced the rear shock hangers Wheel alignment Plus a whole whack of other small incidental chit. I didn't realize there were so many small things that ya have to get right to make everything work just right. Especially when your working with a 46 year old platform that has seen so much road. Man if these cars could only talk !! Here's a word to the wise all. Before ya go to far be sure that front end is all straight. Just because the sheet metal lines up doesn't mean the undercarriage is straight !!
  12. Ya can't let them get away with this !!! They will just keep on doing it and ripping more people off. Go demand your money back as well as all the new parts you gave them that they didn't use.
  13. Yes please on the pics. I too am having hell time lininng up my windows.. Thanks !!
  14. OK I can finally help someone out here !!! If your concern is orange peel you don't need to wetsand between the B/C's. Usually sanding between B/C's is for imperfections in the paint or added depth. Or, as stated earlier, you eclipse the time to apply your clear. Simple steps are these...After all your prep is completed and your car is cleaned and blown off and in the booth, be sure to clean again with wash and wipe (or similar product) Then use a tack cloth over all the surfaces. As for spraying, follow these steps... 1) Spray your sealer coat and let dry 2) Spray 3 coats of Base, letting dry between coats. (Dry time will depend on your reducers and temp/humidity) 3) Spray your clear. Again, letting the clear tack dry between coats. As above this dry time will depend on your particular situation. When spraying your clear you have to be very patient and keep the gun moving at a steady pace and distance from your surface. Do not overlap too much with your spray patters. Clear will run easily if you over do it !!! Be patient between coats, be sure the last coat is at least tacky to the touch. I usually spray 4 coats of clear if I am going to wetsand it. This gives me lots of material to work with. Be sure of your gun pressures, and settings. My advice is to spray a few test panels and play with the gun settings. (Fan pattern and fluid tips). Also be sure your compressor can do the job !!! Especially if your using an HVLP gun. Sure it may keep up but if it's running all the time you run the risk of getting condensation/oil in the line, and it WILL end up in the paint as fiheyes. Your orange peel issue will be resolved in the wetsanding and polishing of the clear. Sorry for the long rant, but the paint job is the first thing people will notice. I have been spraying cars for 30 years...Oh man Im old.... so if ya need any advise I would be pleased to help ya.
  15. Well I haven't posted here for a while..... As for the console, I haven't done anything with it yet. I've been busy with family stuff. As for the license plates, I still haven't decided, so for this summer I'm just running regular plates. Now for the bad news....I have just over 1000 miles on the car and it's running great, I had a little trans slipping but it turned out to be just a linkage issue, no biggie. But I noticed my front tire starting to wear terribly on the outside. Then last week they started squealing. So I took it back to the place that did the alignment. I now realize they have no clue how to deal with these old cars. The guy asked me what I hit because both tie rod ends were bent !!! That's how they came with the rack, that's what their supposed to look like !! He just looked at me with a stupid look on his face. That's when I realized they didn't know what they were doing with this car. It seems nowadays unless they can plug it into their computers they can't do it !! So now I have it at a place that deals with old cars. He had a 65 vert, a 69 Cougar and on old Dart in his shop when I was there this morning. He knows all about the UCA drop and agreed that most alignment shops don't know how to deal with these cars. So hopefully this will be the end of my alignment issues. Hopefully there isn't any frame or bent shock tower issues. It shouldn't be too bad, all the sheet metal lined up fairly good when I put it all back together. Same with the shock tower brace. Once its all lined up, I'll put a Monte Carlo bar on to help stiffen it up.
  16. :happybday: I hope ya have a great day !! And thanks for all your help and contibutions to this great forum !!!
  17. Thanks for the offer ForceFed !! I just got a call from the tranny shop and they say they have it fixed. Apparetly the linkage at the trans was not fully engaging at the proper shift points between 2nd and 3rd. Which would explain why it would be a little hard to get into park and stay there. Starnge though how it took 1000 miles to rear its ugly head. But if, in fact, this was the problem, its way better than what it could have been !!!
  18. Well I can't figure it out, so back to the tranny shop tomorrow......sigh.....
  19. All good points, he did say 351C though. If it is an 'M' he may have clearance issues.
  20. Look at the front of the heads. Near the intake manifold, if there is a #2 on the head then it's a 2 bbl head.
  21. AMEN !! I wish I could go back to 1985 and stop myself from selling my '70 BOSS 302 !! What a MORON !!! As for my current car, knowing what I know now, if I could go back to the day I bought it, I probably would have tried to get a better deal. It turned out to be a bigger job than I had originally hoped for. But you HAVE to expect that in this hobby.
  22. Good Day All, Well I have been driving the car a bit this summer....finally....And all has been going fairly well, a few small issues but that is to be expected. But now the trans has started to slip !!!:censored: It's got just over 1,000 miles on it. Should it need to be adjusted after an initial 'break in' or is this a bigger issue. It seems fine shifting from 1st to 2nd, but from 2nd to 3rd it has a problem. It seems to get better when it warms up. Any ideas ??? It seems to me that a totally rebuilt trans should last longer than 1000 miles !!!! The trans is an FMX with a shift kit. Thanks All !! Ken
  23. So Sorry to hear of your loss. God Bless you, him and his family.
