  2. anyone know how the shift rods attach correctly to the tranny from the shifter ...i see a few diagrams and see differences and still not sure which one is correct for my car.....someone else had pulled the tranny to rebuild it and pulled it all out and now just handed me back the parts .......im also trying to figure out which new bushings to buy for the rods and shift arm......i already rebuilt the shifter so thas done......... ed

  4. looks great.....but no thanks...i dont have cruise or the wood either......yours looks very nice and matches your dash.... im wondering if going aftermarket will present a problem mounting and installing or not? i will look on ebay - you gave me a good idea.....thanks ed
  5. i have a plain jane 2 spoke steering wheel that needs replacing.....all vinyl parts that will cost me over 200 dollars in parts to put back together...my question is....has anyone had any luck going with a aftermarket steering wheel on a 70 mustang coupe? i know horn issues occur when using the grant wheels..... any advice on this?? i may just buy the parts and rebuild my old one ...but its not cheap...... thanks ed
  6. hey if your radiator is many years old...you may want to replace it reguardless if you are riding in super hot weather....... and is the engine stock?? rpm has some good ideas to check out too.... it all adds up in the end! good luck ed
  7. you are right it is sad everything is imported....and china is so unreliable - i have a maytag washing maching from china that is rusting from the inside out!!! i should have kept the 18 year old one....it never rusted!!! i try not to buy anything from china ...but its so hard!!!! ed

  9. the box stores are a gamble....and that napa box if you notice reads reman in china on the bottom......so there goes your quality....... i see powermaster advertising new alternators......no reviews on them ????? cant find any....... thanks for all the responses ed
  10. well a lot of rebuilders just replace the bad parts and dont really check or referbush the rest of it...... and it depends where its being done as far as quality control ... it seems like there is no real shop that is known for excellent service all the time on these parts..... ed

  12. ANY ALTERNATOR BETTER QUALITY OUT THERE? THEY ALL CLAIM THEY ARE THE BEST!! I ONLY NEED THE 55AMP FORD ALTERNATOR BUT WANT TO GET ONE THAT IS REMANUIFACTURED WITH GOOD QUALITY PARTS..... ANY IDEAS? FOR A FORD 6 CYL MUSTANG NO HIGH OUTPUT THANKS ED
  13. the oh shit moment i had a few years ago with my 70 coupe was getting on the on ramp increasing speed and the hood unlatched and flew straight up and i could not see......thats a moment to remember!!! ed
  14. looking to get a new alternator for my 70 6 cylinder....are these new ones any good? anything to look out for? anyone try them on here? is it worth the money to get a new one vs a rebuild????? i think new is better? ed
  15. try national parts depot for the carb kit.......and pertronix makes a points drop in conversion for that motor....i have on in my car and it works great.... ed
  16. well guys i drilled a hole where it looked good for the cable to go through and i found out i do not have a tube built in to guide a cable down into the frame rail ....i tried using a wire to see if i could get it through but that didnt work.....i put a nut on a string and sent that down to see if that would work with a magnet to try and find it.....didnt work...... there has to be some way to do this.....get something through so i can tie the cable to it and pull it up through the floor............ any ideas? the car is on jack stands dash is mostly out -- it need to get this done so i can put the dash back in...........never a dull moment here.......any ideas would be appreciated!! thanks ed
  17. the box on the vert is different than my coupe ....but it still helps on drilling the hole thanks again ed
  18. i am using this picture to drill the new hole....... bought the torgue boxes from npd.....so i dont know if they had the tube in there or not.....i had someone else weld them in.... thanks for all your help ....will see what happens..... ed
  19. YES REPLACED ALL FRONT FLOORS AND TORGUE BOXES.....SO ORIGINAL HOLE FOR E BRAKE CABLE IS GONE..... HAVE APPROX MEASURMENTS FOR DRILLING A NEW HOLE AND WILL DO THAT......HOPE THE TUBE IS THERE WHERE I DRILL??? NO WAY OF TELLING WITH A NEW TORQUE BOX IN ALREADY.......THE ORIG TORQUE BOX WAS THROWN OUT BEFORE I COULD LOOK AT IT FOR THE HOLE FOR THE CABLE........ NEVER A DULL MOMENT WITH THIS CAR HA HA! ED
  20. OK THAT MAKES SENSE....I HAVE NEW FLOORS AND DRILLING A HOLE FOR CABLE ....NOW HAVE TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO SNAKE THE CABLE DOWN THROUGH THE TORQUE BOX... ANY IDEAS HOW TO GET THAT DONE EASILY? THANKS ED
  21. new floors on a 1970 coupe ...need to drill hole for for emergency brake cable and now need the gromet that fits on the floor.....ill even take a used one....cant find any listed have any ideas?? ed
