i had posted this on another forum (non-mustang) a few weeks ago and it seemed only appropriate that it should really exist on a 69 mustang forum...
here is a summary of what has been completed over the course of the last 1.5 years....
i had just finished making the rotisserie and moved the car off the temporary dolly. i was pretty nervous the first time i flipped this car around!
after a lot of structural metal work, i media blasted the car
made my own set of subframe connectors. nothing on the market was what i wanted.
replaced more sheetmetal. both sides, outer wheelhouses, trunk floors, quarter panels, not to mention all the patch panels...
finished fitting the doors, trunk lid, quarter extensions, valance. then glazing, sealing and fill priming...
i've been working on mocking up the engine, transmission, cooling, etc. TFS high ports, scattershield and a victor junior have created a challenge. finally finished up the clutch linkage, modifying the headers (had to completely relocate two tubes. i've sliced up the shaker and have finally have a legitimate plan to fit it under the hood and retain the vacuum system and external appearance. it's about 1/2" high in the picture.

thanks again for the compliments. however, keep in mind that i'm an amateur. there is a high probability that my methods probably aren't the best methods....
this will probably be the last post for a couple of weeks.
i spent some time fitting the front fender extensions. i had to file a couple of the holes and add some washers for spacers. in addition i had to drill out he spot welds in the front fender headlight bucket area to allow me to pull out the fender about a 1/16". i just couldn't get the left side to sit flush with the fender while having the edge next to the hood consistent with the fender. i didn't want to add a bunch of mud to fill the gap, so this seemed like the best solution.
i also had to torque on the hood right up by these extensions to get the contour to match. this area is such a PITA.

thanks for the positive feedback. the accelerator linkage was certainly one of the items to be addressed during this process. when i first posted on this site about doing this last year, i was expecting to have to cut a channel for the linkage. it turns out that everything worked out ok.
i've spent the last couple days cleaning up a few items with the shaker, radiator, linkage's, etc, before i pull everything back out and continue fitting up the fenders.
of course the original bracket didn't work with this mechanical carb. i had to bend it and make a new end to clear the accelerator pump.
there is quite a bit of clearance for the cable and bracket. i believe i had responded to moteaux a few weeks ago about doing a 1 1/4" drop base with the concern of the throttle linkage possibly interfering. without the angle i put in the base, the bracket would have come very close to hitting. if a person were to put an 1/8" bend in the bracket it would probably clear.
even at WOT there is plenty of clearance.
i had asked Pro-Systems when they built the carb if i could get the original holley finish because i'm trying to minimize how far i stray from looking original. they wouldn't do it. turns out like you have recognized, you can't see the carb anyways!

The instructions on my TKO indicated no higher than 6500 RPMs.

BuckeyeDemon got a reaction from JayEstes in Fire Extinguisher Location
I had mounted one in front of the passenger seat, but then moved the mount to behind the drivers seat. either location is easily assessable in a second.
with it behind the seat, I never really notice it. it moves with the seat.

a lot is happening, just nothing really interesting. primarily finishing up small patches, welds, mounts, brackets, etc.
going to try to fit an x-pipe. not sure if i can make it work (e.g. needs to clear the driveshaft and loop to the point i can drop the rear end to easily change tires). whether or not a x makes any difference, i don't know. in my opinion, i basically copied the Burns Stainless design which is the only one that functionally makes sense to me.

what not just use the paint you have and adjust the amount of the flatting agent? that's the beauty of this, you can adjust to your taste.

car show judging is a joke.
for the most part, i've found it much nicer, to simply register, then put a display only/do not judge sign on my dash and hang out. then i don't have to worry about what might have happened with the awards. i'm the hardest and best judge of my car.

BuckeyeDemon got a reaction from 69mach1build in What flywheel for 351W and TKO600?
i have a lakewood scattershield for my 351w and the 164t flywheel. if you have to get a bell, i would recommend a 157 bellhousing. it should be slightly smaller than a 164 and allow a little more clearance for headers. there are plenty of 10.5" clutch setups out there that can support a lot of power.

BuckeyeDemon got a reaction from AMBISBUTS in 69 mach 408w build
thanks for the positive feedback. the accelerator linkage was certainly one of the items to be addressed during this process. when i first posted on this site about doing this last year, i was expecting to have to cut a channel for the linkage. it turns out that everything worked out ok.
i've spent the last couple days cleaning up a few items with the shaker, radiator, linkage's, etc, before i pull everything back out and continue fitting up the fenders.
of course the original bracket didn't work with this mechanical carb. i had to bend it and make a new end to clear the accelerator pump.
there is quite a bit of clearance for the cable and bracket. i believe i had responded to moteaux a few weeks ago about doing a 1 1/4" drop base with the concern of the throttle linkage possibly interfering. without the angle i put in the base, the bracket would have come very close to hitting. if a person were to put an 1/8" bend in the bracket it would probably clear.
even at WOT there is plenty of clearance.
i had asked Pro-Systems when they built the carb if i could get the original holley finish because i'm trying to minimize how far i stray from looking original. they wouldn't do it. turns out like you have recognized, you can't see the carb anyways!

i had posted this on another forum (non-mustang) a few weeks ago and it seemed only appropriate that it should really exist on a 69 mustang forum...
here is a summary of what has been completed over the course of the last 1.5 years....
i had just finished making the rotisserie and moved the car off the temporary dolly. i was pretty nervous the first time i flipped this car around!
after a lot of structural metal work, i media blasted the car
made my own set of subframe connectors. nothing on the market was what i wanted.
replaced more sheetmetal. both sides, outer wheelhouses, trunk floors, quarter panels, not to mention all the patch panels...
finished fitting the doors, trunk lid, quarter extensions, valance. then glazing, sealing and fill priming...
i've been working on mocking up the engine, transmission, cooling, etc.
