  1. Kinda in the same process to switch my front brakes from drum to Power Discs. I was with Shaun from Opentracker on the phone this morning. For a street cruiser, no real need to switch to disc on the rear. On the other hand, good drums on the rear will be needed. Also I want to do the front suspension at the same time, and will go with OT Bilstein kit.
  2. ZRay on "the" other forum sells dam' good ones, beefier and can come with a pad. Reasonable price.
  3. All right, it is pretty easy to bypass. But why would you do it, if I may ask? It is a safety feature, and not that bad to change depending on your tranny. Switch for FMX are located at the shifter while other transmissions have it at the transmission housing.
  4. What he said ^^^^, though I'd recommend removing the whole assembly for a thorough overhaul. Leaving the front part of the box in place makes it hard to access all the clips. Your choice. Removing the heater box allows for visual inspection of that firewall section which is good! If you decide for the removal, clean and lubricate the gates. The core may need some adjustments done to the box. Get a replacement Aluminum core, unless you are going for all OEM restoration. It is also a good time to clean and repaint the whole box, rust proofing all metallic parts, check and maybe overhaul the fan motor (or replace), replace all the rubber seals as they are certainly gone to dust. As well, check and eventually replace the cables, the hoses, the clamps, the clips and the resistor. Removing the thing is a major PITA so you want to do it thoroughly and NOT go back to it any time soon!
  5. Here are a couple of pix from my instal: I chose to keep the lower dash in. I also wrapped the harness before putting it in the car, uaing tape and Techflex.
  6. Sorry, my bad. What is the wire color coding behind that blue connector?
  7. That is the #6 purple wire coming from the solenoid which connects to the NSS and comes out of that square connector in the engine bay as #5 purple wire to the Ignition Switch (page 5). With a manual trans, you are good with the Lt Green and Pink (#24 & #39B wires). Those take care of the back-up lights. As you have no NSS (I suppose, but it may be different with a T5 which I am not familiar with), the Purple #6 wire just needs to be connected to Purple #5. I also assume that you have a standard ignition (pertronix or points) and standard fuel circuit. If you have EFI and/or different fuel pump, my knowledge there is close to nil.
  8. Trunk light, maybe? It should connect to a 12V fused feed in this case.
  9. I replaced the whole upholstery from the frame up in a Deluxe car. TMI vynil all over is great, good fit overall. Foam is available for the front seats (get the premium foam with listing wires inside, much more manageable). I used plastic poultry fence mesh and non tear weed fabric from HD. It works really well to replace the smelly burlap. All the frames were wirebrushed, rust proofed and painted semi-gloss black. I also used a few layers of batting with scrim (cotton / poly) for the corners or to adjust the thickness for the foam. The result is quite comfy and looks good.
