69ShelbyGT350H got a reaction from Grabber70Mach in 1969 Shelby GT350H Build
Got all the liquids in and wanted to prime the fuel pump and fill the carb. 6 gallons of REC 90 in the tank but after several attempts, no fuel was flowing. Several checks reveal that the fuel hard fuel line is plugged someplace and there is no damage to the line. I ordered a new SS 3/8 line and just got it installed.

My cooling system is going to run at 2 psi. I'll be using Evans Waterless Coolant . Lots of pro's and cons, but I'm using it. Adding the flair to the fuel line is a safety feature.
Finally got the climate control box fully rebuilt and in the car. New high-density evaporator, expansion valve and aluminum heater core. All metal parts sandblasted, painted, and a new seal kit installed. I had to do some repairs to the box due to cracking in various areas. I used the repro firewall seal on the inside of the firewall, and the original rubber on the outside to help make for a better insulated seal.
I went a little overboard due to the use of the JBA headers. I used Lizzard Skin CI on the inside of the passenger cabin, from the under the cowl, down the inside of the firewall, across the floor pan to the rear seat. Then sprayed the roof. I then added Dynamat to the inside of the firewall, followed by the factory firewall pad. The factory style carpet has the attached jute padding, and I also put down the factory tar type insulation panels under that. I added 1" of pink insulation to the underside of the roof, and under the cowl. Overkill? I am expecting some extra engine noise I'd rather keep it out of the passenger cabin, and I want the A/C to work GREAT! I am in Florida after all.
Proper "S" hose and heater control valve has been installed. The proper Ford striped heater hose and clamps as well.

69ShelbyGT350H got a reaction from Johns Summer of 69 in Summer (of 69) Project
I totally understand, had to constantly be on the guys when I had my car in a shop and I was paying them to do the work. Hope you have better luck than I did. Progress is progress though!

Took a grungy old alternator, cleaned it up and gave it a little paint job. Now I just hope after all that work that it still works, or a re-build will be in order.

I see progress, even when it is 2 steps forward and 1 back. Believe me, I know this process very well.

69ShelbyGT350H reacted to Midlife in 347 stroker motor
There's another way of determining whether it is a stroker: the amount of rubber on the rear quarters and lack of tread depth on the rear tires.
Oh, you can also ask for the gas receipts and mileage calculations.

69ShelbyGT350H reacted to Midlife in Softer ride
I'd recommend stepping up to a used Grand Marquis or Lincoln Town Car.

No sealer on the pump mounting bolts, changed the pump quad ring and converter oil seal and put a new bush in the pump housing.
Also had the converter pressure checked , all good.
Get my new Remflex header gaskets on Tuesday so i will start putting the engine and trans in during the week at night so i can drive it next weekend.
Got to psych myself up to do the job, uncle Jack Daniels is always there to help me.

69ShelbyGT350H reacted to RPM in Engine Installation - headers & transmission
Thanks David. I too thought you were referring to the OP's past experience, and didn't see anything wrong with barnett's reply. I'll blame my lack of understanding on too many concussions.
Unlike some forums, this is supposed to be a friendly forum where all can share knowledge and where newbies aren't run off. I have a hard enough time fingering out what folks are saying to my face, and typing on the internet only makes it worse. Happy motoring.

69ShelbyGT350H reacted to Sean D in Engine Installation - headers & transmission
Thanks everyone for their opinions and help. I have never installed an engine before so I was asking for advice, and am thrilled with the ideas here! Let us be calm and not pick at each other, as we all have information the share. It is up to the person that asked the question to decipher it all and make their own decision(s).
Engine goes in today, with the help of my father (68) and son (23)! So looking forward to it, not only getting it done, but the time spent with three generations!
I will report back with results, time it took, and hopefully picture with it installed.

69ShelbyGT350H got a reaction from Grabber70Mach in 1969 Shelby GT350H Build
I purchased a Grams Wideband 02 sensor to help me tune my Holley HP 750 carb. It came with Bosh 17025 5 wire LSU 4.9 heated sensor. My JBA H pipe has a pair of 02 sensor bungs installed as you can see in the attached photo between the bell housing and main body of the FMX. A while back I think I read that you can damage a "heated" 02 sensor if you do not power it up when you run the engine. Anyone know if this is true or not?
As I only have a single meter, I was hoping to buy a 2nd 02 sensor and have both pigtails in the car and switch back and forth so as not to have to crawl under the car and move the sensor back and forth to sample each bank.
Yea, now I see there are gauges that have two sensor inputs, but that was after I purchased this one, and they are also a bit more pricey than the $150 that I paid for my Grams kit. Grams also seems to be a respected brand.
Assembly update, ignore the LED lights hanging below the valance.
Power Assist control valve and power ram. What a PITA the hoses were to install.

69ShelbyGT350H got a reaction from mwye0627 in What front suspension setup???
Not what most would do, but what I did.
That's just a stock suspension setup with a Prothane upper spring mount, right? Looks that way till you take a closer look.
1" Arning drop. opentrackerracing roller upper control arm
Upper control arms with stealth boxing plates welded on the bottom. Dipped in black paint as the factory did. Roller Pearches. Lower arms boxed on the bottom, screw in ball joints, spherical pivot bearings at the lower frame mount.
opentrackerracing DYI roller kit for upper and lower control arms w/boxing plates, roller perches, 1" Arning drop. Not shown: Prothane bushings on the strut arms. KYB Gas-A-Just shocks. Export Brace.

The car looks to be in great condition for its age. It should turn out very nicely when you are done with it.

From the photos your car looks nice. Standard interior with the fold down back seat. Event he Philco radio is still there. Reminds me of my 69 GT when I got it in 1979.

69ShelbyGT350H got a reaction from fvike in FMX Shifting Issue after Shift Kit
Have you tried adjusting the downshift rod from the carb to the trans? Sounds like its too far back making the trans think the car is hard accelerating.

69ShelbyGT350H reacted to skidmarky in Head Liner and window install
yep, do the headliner next. Its really not hard. I installed mine and used binder clips to hold it in place and get it adjusted for a tight fit, then remove a clip or two, glue it, and put the clips back on. Let it sit for a day and you are done.
