2 Questions: 1. Has anybody performed a DIY port job? If so, how was it? Is it worth me spending eleventybillion hours doing it or should I pay someone? 2. If you paid to have it done, how much did it run ya?

I'm planning on rebuilding the cleveland in 2-3 months. Lookin' to get 300 rwhp out of the thing and still get somewhat decent gas mileage. I'm wondering should I go to 4V heads. I'm also wondering if I should stroke it. I'm thinkin' strokin' is a bad idea due to gas mileage. I'm pretty sure the kits run close to the 2K range as well. Any thoughts? Should I stick with the 2Vs and put $ elsewhere?

Oh, my word! It's almost half the price of a new T-5! Ouch. Is there an advantage of going with the hydrualic set-up? I have to do the swap in a few months so i'm fishin' for info. Thanks.

I have this: http://store.schumachermart.com/se-1-12s.html Had it hooked up for about a week. I don't have a problem with it, but I am a little concerned. It says it shuts itself off, but I hear it 'huming' constantly and it's warm to the touch. I could understand if the battery was not charge. I would expect the unit to be on and get warm, but it indicates my battery 'is' charged. Has anybody had the same experience with their battery maintainer?
