  1. When I was deciding on what axles I kept seeing "Strange" axles were great and that's what I was going to get
  2. I'm really loving the look you have on your 69. I have the same car. Are you running spacers? Do you remember the backspacing and offset and whatever else I need to know to order the same wheels?
  3. Sorry guys, I've been busy with the 69 Thanks for the tips on the wood.
  4. I'm getting my 69 ready to install the coilover kit I ordered with the 3 link and I need to put the rear jack stands where I could leave them for a extended time (like a month+) and not have them in the way for the install or it could mess something up. I installed convertible inner rockers but I still need to be sure. Is this a safe place? Thanks guys
  5. I bought it years ago. It wasn't the smartest decision but it's already done. I would need to find someone who can verify what it has but I don't know anyone or any place I can take it. I've considered just buying a new one with the controller but that's not a cheap option. I wish I would have just bought a new one to begin with. This one is supposed to be built. I just wish I could verify it before I install it. It came with a ptc converter and b&m oil pan
  6. Thanks for the response, the 4r70w I have is supposed to be built and the gear ratios are slightly different. That's what I was told the final gear is. I believe I'll go with the 3.70. With that I'll be around 6100 @ 130 mph in 3rd if i took it to the 1/4 I'll ask Shaun from SOT if that would also work on a autocross track since I plan to take it to willow springs and Buttonwillow raceway. In the near future I'll install a manual trans.
  7. I'm calling on Tues to order my rear diff. I have a 4r70w with a .78 as a final and my rear tires will be 26.65 I was looking at the currie calculator and if I put a 3.70, at 70mph my rpms will be at 2289 A 3.5 ratio will get me 2186rpm @ 70mph Does that sound too high for a carbed 408w? I still plan on getting something much lower like a 3.0 for trips to visit family 110 miles away and I'll be at 1856. He'll I'll probably just end up buying a trailer and tow it. It'll be almost the same price! Obviously I've never done this and I need to get it right the first time. I don't remember the cam specs now but its a mild cam from Chris Staub (I think 250's lift and 1.6 rockers) air gap intake, a 850cfm carb with vacuum secondaries, I'm getting the giant msd coil and probably a 6 series box, afr 205 heads, a built 4r70w (I'll find out) , Bauman controller
  8. I thought you were talking about the twisted ones..... I might have one of these that I'll need to try out. I tried out the pads Midlife sent me a link to and damn those things grind down everything fast. Progress is slow right now since my days off are gone but I'll continue on my next days off. Yesterday I found out my suspension kit already shipped out and will be here in a few days so I need to work double time on this. So much to do and so little time. My goal is to start and drive it this year!!!!
  9. looking at the SOT 13 front and 12 rear with 4 pistons on both.... anyone here have this?
  10. I did consider them Bob but I don't want single piston rear calipers. Even the kit mustang Steve sells for 18 or 1900 that has 14" front and 13" from a 2016+ mustang has the single piston rear caliper.
  11. I just got the green light from the wife to buy a actual quality kit that will hold up to some track time! My daughter wants to take the mustang to a track I now I think my wife does. I just drove to Malibu Beach and I was able talk to her finally about it Recommended front and rear kit? Wilwood, Baer, brembo? I have 18" torq thrust 2 wheels and I'm thinking 3.5k will be my limit. I haven't looked to see what's available yet. Thanks for the info so far guys.
  12. Got a bag full to try..... Tomorrow morning when it's not 104 degrees in my garage Thanks Midlife
  13. I was looking at his website too. I was thinking the same about just the brackets but where would I get the rotors with the correct bolt pattern? He sells a front and rear kit with 14" and 13" rotors from a 2016+ mustang for 1900 but if I just bought the brackets and got the calipers/pads/hoses myself I wouldn't know where to get the large rotors with the correct bolt pattern for my 69.
  14. I saw the 12 rear disc brakes from street or track but is 1200 what I should expect to pay for a decent kit or do you guys know of other options?
  15. Updated on post 7 I originally wanted to run the drum brakes on the rear that are on the housing now but now I want disc. I'm going to try running the small bearing housing and just avoid slicks and the drag strip for now. What's a good disc brake set up for the Ford small bearing housing? I do drive aggressively so I'm familiar with brake fade and want to get something that keeps that away if possible...... Something that can be ordered and doesn't cost a arm and a leg or a testicle..... the junk yards by me suck, well the ones I've been too so I'd rather order something new I would love to just get a set of front and rear disc brakes that I won't have to upgrade later but I already have the front 13" cobra brakes and want to save some $$$ if possible by using them I need to decide on this so I can order the 3rd member and axles. As always I appreciate all of the help. Thanks again guys.
  16. Thanks. After the monsters of group B were put away that's when toyota started the celica all-trac with the st165. The one I had was the next model the st185. The st185 won the wrc like 4 years in a row the the st205 came out and they were caught cheating with a turbo restrictor bypass allowing a extra 50hp. That was the end of the celica all-trac. I wish I was old enough to watch the group B races. 600hp death machines flying on jumps, around turns and into spectators! But yeah my car went up as well. I would of kept it longer but I don't have time to wait for that.
  17. I sold my favorite rare car a couple hours ago to ensure I have the funds and time to finish my build this year.... turbo awd was fun but ill enjoy my mustang more. Especially since I won't have to worry about smog bull^#&# I needed the space anyway to stop moving the mustang over next to the wall so I could work on this one. I just found out cops were doing smog checkpoints were I live. It's like a dui checkpoint but they smog your car if they feel suspicious about it. My friend told me it looks like they are doing free car dynos ha ha ha If RPM wasn't a ex cop, I'd say I F****** hated cops but since he was..... cops are great!
  18. Yeah he seems like a great guy. I ordered my front and rear coilover kits from him the other day. A little thought to get a hold of sometimes but I'm sure he's busy. I emailed him earlier
  19. So the strange 31 spline axles and strange nodular 3rd member SHOULD be ok huh. I'm know to over think things but I don't want to break something while having some fun with my older kids in the car or on a track. I don't plan on drag racing but I would like to go a couple times to see what I can do in a 1/4 mile. I saw they sell a brace for the 9" but if not careful, you can warp the housing while welding to it
  20. Can the housing just be strengthened? What could happen if the housing can't take the power? Wheels fall off? 3rd member area breaks?
  21. Now I'm debating on if I should just sell my small bearing ford housing and get a aftermarket one and sell the one I have now to help offset the cost. This is never going to end This is one option I was looking at and getting a strange 3rd member..... https://streetortrack.com/rear-ends/street-or-track-9-rear-end-w-3-link-mounts-installed I called "Strange engineering" and they just told me it's best to get the strongest I can for durability and that's what I want. Strength and durability. Man....
  22. I measured it yesterday and I have a small one..... oh I mean the small bearing housing on my 9" rear! I'm about to order my 3rd member and axles and I've been looking at the strange ones..... I read I could fit 35 spline axles but that makes the axle bearings too small so I was considering 31 spline axles with a nodular diff. Chris Staub and the guy from pro systems that got me my carb and the guys that built my 408w all told me I'll be close to 600hp Afr 205 heads, 10.5 compression carbed, Straub cam and fpa headers. Other little stuff. I'll have some 275's nitto tires in back. I think it was the 555's I was looking at before. I think the radius is 25.1 or 25.91 for my tires. I want my rpms at a good speed so I can drive it out of town once in a while and get something better than 8mpg but still tear up the mean streets of Chicago, I mean Bakersfield. I was thinking 3.50 for the gear ratio. The 4r70w I have is supposed to have a .70 final. I know squat of gearing...... I'm still thinking of having a separate 3rd member just for traveling though. Something that's strong enough for cruising and with like a 3.00 gear ratio or slightly lower. I heard of Mark Williams diffs, way out of my price range.... Has anyone had bad luck with strange diff's or axles?
  23. I have some but the 3m brand. They are a little pricey and don't last long so I try to be careful on how I use them but these are much cheaper. I'll try these for the tight areas. Thanks for the link!
