napedVem reacted to JayEstes in Advice on new Floor Jack
The time has come to get a new floor jack. My crappy old, small craftsman won't hold up much anymore, and it's never had enough vertical lift.
I don't have a ton of floor space, so I'd like one that isn't too huge when not in use, and slides under tight spaces, and lifts plenty high.
What floor jacks do you guys have and what are some good features to look for?
Also, What jack points do you guys use in the front of the car? The frame is rather high up off the ground, so with the jack I have had, I can't even lift the wheel off the ground if I jack on the frame. I usually wind up jacking on the frame near the eccentric bolts or literally on the lower control arm (especially if I just wanna get a wheel off the ground).
If you have any advice on what jack to get, and where you like to use it on the car, I'd love to hear some advice.
Thanks!
Jay

napedVem reacted to 69Mustang16 in 1969 Coyote Resto-mod
Hello, new to joining the forum. Have followed a lot of the other builds here, which are awesome, and wanted to share where we are in ours. My dad and I acquired the car in late 2014. It came with an extremely mild 351C and a C6 tranny. He tinkered on it here and there and added a few parts but always wanted a little more.. who doesn't.. So after I brought home a 2016 mustang GT he was hooked on the coyote 5.0 We had originally planned strictly a front end conversion and engine/tranny swap but this has turned into a full blown build. Many of the parts came from Mustangs to Fear, and they have been really really nice to work with. All of the work is being completed by GT Graphics and Customs out of Franklin, NC. Both Gary and Teresa over at GT Graphics and Customs are first class individuals. We couldn't be more pleased with them.
I won't bore you with a parts list so here's some pictures of where we are at!
Here's the current stable of cars:

napedVem reacted to copb8 in Rattle Reduction Questions
I have HUGE rattles in the front end of my '70 Mach 1. They are killing the fun for me so I have to get them fixed before the love is lost.
Today I found what might be accounting for 50% of the noise and I'm hoping you guys can tell me the right way to fix it. I'm getting serious rattles between the outer skin and inner skin/structure of the hood, especially around the shaker hood opening. I started taking weather stripping and stuffing it between the gaps. This really quietened it down but isn't exactly pretty or period correct.
First question is whether there's something wrong with the hood that this happens? Second question is what's a good way to fix the problem that will look decent and last?
I think the other 50% of my rattles has something to do with the suspension, springs, and maybe perches as it quiets way down when I'm on the brakes and hitting bumps.

napedVem reacted to Ash in Ash's 69 R-code
It's been almost a year now since I purchased my 69 428CJ R-code. I've been floating around this forum for a little while, but thought it time to share and to keep a bit of a log with my car.
Ever since I was a little kid, all I have ever wanted is a 69/70 Mach 1. In February 2011 I flew to the USA, met up with a guy who I had been talking to for a few months, and purchased his 69 Mach 1 R-code 428 Cobra Jet with a 4 speed close ratio transmission and 3.91:1 traction lock diff.
Here's some pics of it during the purchase process:
The pics that were emailed to me when I found it
Coming back from my first drive in Louisiana. It was the first time I had ever driven a Mustang, first time to drive a LHD manual (the day before was the first time to drive a LHD car which was the hire car) and also the first time I've driven a big block. So it was a very quick learning curve.
It loaded up to go meet the truck for delivery to Los Angeles
Waiting 4 hours in a Wallmart carpark, the truck was extremely late even though we were told they would be 20mins after we arrived. Standing in that carpark was an eye opener on its own. Many people stopped to take photos which was awesome! And many others stopped to buy drugs from someone dealing not far from where we were. I've never seen anything like it.
Going onto the truck in Lafayette to make the journey to L.A.
After arriving in L.A. and giving it a wash
And me with my new toy, extremely over whelmed and extremely exhausted from all the travelling and lack of sleep.
I'm was so happy with my purchase, I couldn't describe the feeling. It's the one and only car I have ever really wanted and the one car I will never sell. EVER!!
I finally got word of it arriving in May and was quickly down to pick it up. Here she was waiting for me. Unfortunately it was running like shit! It wasn't running great when we dropped it off to the exporter but knew it had a few things needing attention.

napedVem reacted to andrew.2doorcoupe in Vendors in/near Seattle WA
I am very new to this classic car restoration, I inherited a 69 mustang coupe and am currently in the process of restoring and repairing.
My problem is I dont have a good idea of what the original should look like at times due to jerry-rigs and hack-fixes all over the car.
I need to find a good classic mustang or car shop in the Seattle area to come running to with my various questions on looks, parts, installs etc. Anyone know the area well enough to shoot me some names?

napedVem reacted to stangnet33 in Pic of original hood latch bracket
Looking for a little help if someone with an original hood latch bracket could give a picture of one as I can't seem to find a good pic of one. As you can see someone hacked/modified this one. I'm hoping that I can save this one. Also curious how it is painted. Hard to see with this pic but the bracket appears to have had a black primer then had over spray of color on the bottom half and then hand painted black. The grille bracket that mounts on it has been totally covered in red oxide primer, then over spray of color on the lower half and then hand painted black.

napedVem reacted to machm1970 in Cowl panel hardware
I'm slowly tracking down and fixing all the rattles in my car. I noticed the cowl panel rattles where it goes under the windshield trim, guessing I'm missing some hardware. Looking online all I can find are the screws that hold the cowl down at the front in the engine compartment. What am I missing?
Thanks,
Matt

napedVem reacted to newstang in 69-70 Inside engine bay dims?
Hi all, I found a few people who have some dimensions for the aprons, however they have shock towers and i wont have them.
Problem is there are no real reference points to measure from. I need the Inside dims and length. all I have found is where someone measured from the apron bolt holes which really wont give me a good starting point.

napedVem reacted to Shep69 in mach 1 stripes
Getting very close to painting my mustang. Going with gulfstream aqua as this is the original colour. So i have a couple of choices with the stripes. Black with gold or gold with white. Can the stripe colour be found on the build sheet. My build sheet is in pretty poor condition , hard to make out some info.
Any advice on what colour stripes i should go with.
Cheers Mark.

napedVem reacted to Caseyrhe in Gauge cluster paint roller
Besides the tedious painting required at the faces and edges, I built a small roller to eliminate taping, spraying, and brush marks. Used a extra spacer for an under counter kitchen appliance, bolt, nuts, foam weatherstrip insulation, and Testors silver/argent model paint. Foil for the paint tray. Worked like a charm!

napedVem reacted to TurtleRacing in My Coyote Swap
I just realized I never posted my Coyote swap. I meant to but been driving it instead!
If you are ever throwing around the "should I or shouldn't I", Do it! Nothing to think about, it's well worth it!
I did mine the hard way and it took nine months, with the kits available now, it should be very quick and well worth it.
I went with a Griggs racing rear torque arm, Roadster Shop Revo front end. Coyote Crate, Ford puter, Tremec 5 speed and Wilwood Brakes.
I drove it for a year and a couple months and now the Whipple is going on. I will post pics of that when done.

Hi Guys, here is my current project, Bought this car for 1k and replaced everything except the roof itself. Ok, also the outer rockers cause it was the only thing holding it together as all other parts go on.
Im looking for some 69 fenders and hood if anyone is local in CT and price is reasonable.
I'll post a few pics , but the photobucket shows daily progress.
